I for the life of me can’t figure out why ppl can’t settle on time tested and proven simple copper jacket around a lead core ammo in a green or blue box. Usually, the cheapest ammo is the best at killing stuff, if it groups. And you don’t need sub MOA to kill deer.

This is what I'm seeing. Both deer were average size does. Neither left any blood.

Matt, I was trying to find a factory load that uses a Nosler Partition when you posted. I found the Federals in stock at Natchez and ordered a couple of boxes. I haven't reloaded in 20 years but have .308 brass and found 2 boxes of 150 gr., .30 cal. Partitions, so I guess I'll start setting up to make my own again.

I’ve got about 10 boxes of them in 30-06 and 308. They shoot real good. Haven’t shot them at deer yet, but I will as soon as I wrap up these partitions.

I have a bunch of federal power shock blue box and Norma whitetail I bought cheap. It shoots great and I’ve killed a pile of deer with them. I’m saving all the brass and going to reload them with 150 accubonds

I was shooting the Norma 308 150gr with the elk on the box before I switched to the 130gr Barnes. Outstanding results with those rounds. From my research, the boxes with the elk on them have the rounds loaded with the Norma Oryx bullets. They have more of a blunt tip to them. From big hogs, big Axis bucks and does, Whitetail bucks and does, Ive never recovered a bullet. Only thing I noticed when I switched from the 150gr blue box federal was the Norma had less recoil hit about 2- 21/2” lower at 200yds then the zero I had with the blue box federals. It was an easy adjustment and they shot great. I’ve never heard anything bad about the Norma whitetail rounds. Couple my buddies shoot the Norma bondstrike and has great results with those.

I typically always lean 165s in my 308s.

Federal Fusions unless they won’t group. The new tipped cor lokt.

I too had some blood trail issues with 178gr ELD-Xs

I recently switched to some federal premium loaded with 150 Barnes TSX. I’ve always had great blood with Barnes.

I haven't shot an animal with the eldx yet but they shoot 1/2" groups in my 308 and 300wm. You goobers could have told me about the downside to them before I stocked up on them.

Think you'll be just fine with the 300wm. What ive seen is some just dont have the azz behind 'em to make that bullet perform, why lots folks had better results with the Match bullet. We've had great results with the ELDX with the 6.5 & 300PRC (haven't even scoped my 7 yet 😔)

James is right on target. The guys that I’m familiar with that had issues were shooting lower velocity cartridges. Most were the 6.5 Creedmoor 143gr. I think at the slower velocity, once the front end of the bullet expanded and came apart, it didn’t have enough energy left push the tail end of the bullet through the animal. Just my opinion of course.

Exactly right. The ELDX was designed as a light jacketed long range bullet designed to expand correctly at the lower velocity of a bullet impacting way out there. They are not advisable on thin skinned game at high velocity (short range).

I shot an antelope this year with my 6.5 Creedmoor with 143 grain eld-x handloads at 400 yards. The antelope dropped at the shot and the bullet exited. I switched to 142 grain ABLR after returning home, cause that’s what I wanted to hunt with at longer ranges going forward. I’ve killed one 8 point with it this year and it ran about 10 yards. It was a hard quartering to shot at less than 100 yards, so there was no exit.

83% of all statistics are made up.

150 sst for me. 3 deer this year 85, 105, 235 yards. All DRT and 2 holes in each of em the size of a nickel.

I’m sure others do just fine, but my gun patterned these the best. Glad they do well on meat, too.

Those SST’s are like ballistic tips. Tough on a deer.
I have a bunch of 150 gr Norma I’m gonna try.
And l also bought some of the 150gr 7-08. Glad to hear they shoot basically the same.
