I’m looking at scopes to put on my browning xbolt 270. I think I’ve about settled on a Leupold VX 3HD 3.5-10x50 Firedot Twilight Hunter. Most shots would be between 100-200 yards, at times longer on some of the powerlines I hunt. Is this scope adequate or is there a better option for this application? I’m not looking to spend $2k on a scope but open to spending more than what this scope goes for if there is a better option for my needs.

The Leupold will most certainly serve You well and I seriously doubt You will be wanting for more of a scope than the Leupold.

I have one In an 40mm and it has served me well and held zero. Great scope for the money Fire dot recticle is awesome

I think the Leupold you mentioned will be a great choice.

I hav enjoyed meopta amd zeiss better
Just a few years back bought one of the most expensive loupys - loupy sucks on drawing in light - clarity and it just not clear sometimes. When i was young - i would fight for the name loupold. Get pissed off when anybody talked against Then one of the bettr hunters i know said lets test em in the field. His other brand smoked my loupy. He said - tried telling u dummy (he was my best friend 🤣🤣) I heard of all great improvements in here - purchased high dollar one. My Zeiss and meopta kick its butt!! Ended up selling my Vx6 w a fire dot up in here for way less than i paid - not too many were jumping at it either 🤣🤣 lost lot of $$ and was disappointed
Go test em in the field if u hav the opportunity then know for yourself. I will never own another loupy!! Good-luck

Go to Sport Optics and buy a Swarovski Z5i 2.4-12x50 BT - Plex-I if you have to have an illuminated retical ($1500) or a Swarovski Z5 2.4-12x50 Plex ($1300) if an illuminated retical isn’t a necessity for you. Will pull in a ton more light than any Leupold, and you will not be disappointed. Purchased the latter for my son 2 years ago, and it is far superior to the 50 mm Leupold he was previously using.

I have found that the quality of glass needed rises with my age. Big time. You and me both.
