the ‘concrete fence’ that Fox describes did its job I guess but also ensured the plane’s fate

Always heard to sit in front of plane because pilot would always save himself. They said two crew members survived that without life threatening injuries. How? That was a bad crash Statistically about 3/4 of the way back is most likely to survive. Think about how many crashes where only a few folks survive….you never hear about it being the pilots

Those crew members were probably strapped in jump seats at the very rear of the plane . The rear 1/4 of the plane is the area most likely to survive. The one the other day they speculate Russia shot down , the rear of the plane looked intact and like it just broke off the rear of the plane . A few survivors walked out , uninjured .

Came in hot and fast it looked like to me. No landing gear down. Something was going on and looked like hit the runway way past where it should’ve.

Flight data recorders are usually located in the tail section for a reason.

I gotta think a parallel runway that is soft and designed to reduce tumble would have been a good idea. The pilot landing on the runway assured it was gonna hit that wall. I dunno. Hate it for all the passengers.

I was in the airline business for forty years. That aircraft has three hydraulic systems. There were no flaps extented. No landing gear. They are saying a bird strike. If I had been the pilot I would have landed it in the dirt. Probably kill some folks. But not an ILS concrete wall.

No flaps so couldn't slow down to land. No good options and he landed at a newer airport on their longest runway which apparently was a long runway. No flaps, no gear down for brakes. so not much chance to survive that one.

Would a fuel dump have helped at all? I think the "bird Strike" if that is what caused all this had an immediate affect on the plane and they didn't have much time for dumping fuel or much else. Probably lucky to make it back to a runway.

Bird strikes are common. I dealt with numerous in my career. Now the one in the Hudson was different. My take. Low budget carrier. Low pay pilots with not efficient training. There are about 10 airlines in the world I will fly on.

Always heard to sit in front of plane because pilot would always save himself. They said two crew members survived that without life threatening injuries. How? That was a bad crash They were found in the tail section, which broke off at some point before the plane slammed into the concrete barrier and turned into an overcooked Hot Pocket. Doesn't really matter where you sit if a big plane loaded with fuel slams into the mountain, ground, building, ocean or a concrete barrier at high speed.
