Bird strikes are common. I dealt with numerous in my career. Now the one in the Hudson was different. My take. Low budget carrier. Low pay pilots with not efficient training. There are about 10 airlines in the world I will fly on. Hell, share that information with us. I don't have any knowledge and would just walk on a plane ignorant. Yes please.

There are about 10 airlines in the world I will fly on. Were you a commercial pilot? Did you fly for a major airline? I have several friends that fly for the airlines. Most were Air Force pilots before transitioning to commercial carriers. Several fly for Fed Ex or UPS as well.

Not a pilot. I spent 15 years below wing and 25 above wing. Flying is very safe until you start playing with low cost foreign carriers. They don’t have the rules that the FAA requires. Yes some of these carriers do fly to the US. Me personally I fly Delta. American and United.

Even if you lost all hydraulics there is an alternate method to putting the landing gear down, something else must have happened, or maybe the pilot ran out of time, or God forbid, he just forgot to do it....Those Boeing 737's are pretty reliable planes....

It’s called a hand crank. Curious to see what the boxes say.

I can't imagine how long it would take to hand crank that landing gear down but I bet it takes awhile and quite a bit of effort !!?? It sometimes wears me down just raising and lowering my trailer or boat trailer!!

Yes some of these carriers do fly to the US. Me personally I fly Delta. American and United. My nephew was a flight engineer in the Air Force and now works for Lockheed-Martin maintaining two large test planes. I prefer Delta, American then United in that order!

If I knew I was about to crash. Ok little people let’s get to cranking. I don’t want to be the main course at the Bbq.

It’s called a hand crank. Curious to see what the boxes say. It's a cable pull actually, the hand crank on a 737 is used by pilots to manually wind the trim control cables...
