Perfect!! Now I completely understand what you mean but when you post your graphs you are saying a majority of the state is killing way more than before and that could be an issue and that OOS hunters are the problem. Now that I know we won’t be affected by you begging for more restrictions, I’ll fight tooth and nail to help you win this fight. Thank you for you passion!!

So if we start enforcing the 3 buck limit with tags…..Do we just need to exclude Monroe Co hunters??....How does that work??.....Maybe make GC optional for you guys too?? grin

I said it before that I’d be good with a 2 buck limit but I’m just one person and might be the only one that would be in favor of it. I would also be in favor of a reasonable limit on does. However I like the long seasons because it gives me more time in the woods. Also I could do without the February extension but that’s something I can fix myself. I always head home at the end of January. More times then not everything has shut down by then. But I wouldn’t even think about wanted to take those days from the areas that have the early February rut.

I agree that something needs to change in my area and I think a doe restriction of some sort would be a big help. Also, I wouldn't mind taking out some of gun season in December.

We had the split a few years ago for the first 10 days in December. Didn’t make much difference to us. We always hunted opening weekend and thanksgiving weekend and would pretty much shut it down till mid to late December.

It doesnt matter if you make it 1 if you don’t have any means of enforcing it……Until we show we can enforce the 3 buck limit we already have and see what kind of a difference that makes then there’s no need to even begin to consider a limit of 2……This is why I anticipate that tags are in the near future…..

You know dealing with out of state hunters shouldn’t really be all that hard now that I think about it……All you gotta do is keep raising the cost of the non-resident license until you get the number of non-residents back to what you want…..the ones left who are willing to pay $700 per year or whatever it may be…Can't let these coveted spots go for nothing you know........Maybe you could make an exception for non-resident landowners....

This is true but ask Mississippi about getting stupid with the prices for Louisiana hunters hunting there. Louisiana more then doubled the price of our of state fishing and hunting licenses on them. This was years ago. Didn’t take them long to back track that idea when they found out how many people from Mississippi hunt and fish in Louisiana. $700 would definitely get rid of me. Heck if we find the right place in or around Sonora Texas, we gone!! Only a $307 license and they have axis.

There should be a box to check when you purchase your liscense marked "Trophy Hunter". If you check that box, your liscense is 50% off. Because you aren't going to be killing as many deer as the meat hunters and, you have to deal with the mental anguish of see all of the dead 2 yr old 8 points on social media.

😂

I overheard some of that group talking about how many deee they were seeing and how the neighbors were complaining because they kept killing all the young bucks. He said I looked at that neighbor one day and said “If it’s got a basket, he’s ready for the casket.” I just shook my head.

The number increases are due to tracking dogs not corn. With the explosion of tracking dogs, deer that normally would not be found are now, not only found, but reported, because the hunter is afraid trackers will turn them in if they don't report. So one of two conclusions can be made from this. One, the same amout of deer are being killed, just more being reported, or two, if it's the numbers you want to see go down on game check, ban tracking deer with dogs?

Starting to see more comments like this on social media......I take it with a grain of salt but it does kinda help back up some of what the numbers are showing.........

"Anyone around Dallas County experiencing somewhat of a diminished heard of whitetail this season We have 800 acres and do not have near the does and yearlings we have had in the past (we have had thus land for 10 years). There are only 2 of us hunting (selective). We plant and feed year round"

"I'm seeing less than last year also .about 50%less deer.bullock County. Seemed weird to me also"

"I'm in bullock county also around midway we are very low all around this year even driven home do not see near as many we use to see as many as 60 now only if lucky 5"

"we were like that in bullock county as well on Simsville side"

"Same experience on our farm in Escambia/Conecuh County"

I wonder how many deer they’ve killed so far this season. May be self inflicted. Done that been there.

I guess that’s one way of looking at it……If the state legalized night hunting would you blame the hunters for the decrease in deer that followed??.....I dont think you can just put it all off on the hunters for what's occurring as if no one else bears any responsibility

When the state changed the rule to two does per day and told everyone that you couldnt kill too many.......Was it all just the hunter's fault when the population decreased?

What I’m saying is we’ve been there. We shot the chit out of our place the first couple years we got it. It got to where we were saying the same thing. We cut way back on shooting does and cut down on all the running around. The pressure we were putting on the place pretty much ran everything off. We are now very happy with the amount of deer we have in our place. I do agree is every property in those area are blasting every deer that sticks it’s nose out, it don’t take long that they learn not to stick the nose out. The hunters are definitely the problem unless there was a die off from disease.

It definitely was!! We were a guilty party in that. We learned the error of our ways and changed things up. My thing is if hunters can’t figure out they are the reason for low numbers, a change in regs probably won’t help.
