The thing that is misleading about is calling them "generators." They aren't what I would call a generator. It's a battery with an inverter built in to it. The power to operate it comes from an outside source, usually either solar panels or just plugging it in to AC power until it charges. So they can be extremely useful, but it's not a generator. Why mislabel it like this?

Some of them have enough power to operate most anything. I have a 2000 watt inverter that will run the microwave, but it's really hard on the batteries and drains them quickly. It's much better to run it off lp powered generator - that's a real generator.

PCP, its just marketing. Generator sounds better than "entire house sized battery".

How much stuff are you wanting to power?

I was driving with a Master Electrician a few months ago, having a discussion about Solar. It ain't there yet was the short of it.

LOL. Yours is, of course, the only way. Other brands will do all that too. Nothing wrong with Ecoflow, but they aren't the only game in town.

No, mine isn’t the ONLY way but since myself and family have used these type devices since the onset, we have found the ecoflow to be the toughest and most reliable and when you add in the alternator charging componet, it is indeed a “Generator”. We also use the Ecoflow for heavy requirements like tools, even a Milwaukee Hammer drill.

Solar lithium is “there yet” but most don’t want to spend the money. Solar ain’t free, power ain’t free ! This whole concept is about having power where you need it.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Ecoflow and have seriously considered buying one back when Amazon had a sale. I eventually decided I just didn't need it that much. My solar system at the cabin already does everything I need, so it would be sort of redundant in my situation.

But I still don't see calling it a generator. Being able to charge it with an alternator is very convenient, but the power is still coming from an outside source.

We bought the EcoFlow Delta 2 Max, with an extra battery, when they had a bid sale a few years ago. You can call it a "house sized battery" instead of a generator if you want, but it nice. We later bought the solar panels for it. What we found is, when nearly fully deleted, it takes about 8 hours for the solar panels to get it back to 95%+. If fully depleted, it takes about 2 hours for a gas generator to fully recharge it. It will power a lot of stuff. Buying things like this are what you get when you're the last house on the line.

With enough battery capacity, you can be totally off grid. The problem is after about 3 days of cloud cover you need a back up source of power to recharge. I guess you could add more batteries to get you through a longer spell with no sun.

Y'all check out the You tube channel Ambition Strikes and go look at the vids from a couple years ago about settng up their solar array
