I discovered this tactic one night trying to call in a coyote in a freshly cut corn field. I parked in the corn field in a part of the field that had a lot of big water oaks around the edges. I put on Fox Pro on the hood of the truck and got ready to shoot a coyote. What happened next was a complete surprise. I started with a coyote distress call and start watching with the handheld thermal. As soon as I started the call, I noticed the trees filled up with raccoons. It seems the raccoons are really afraid of mad/fighting coyotes and get off of the ground as fast as they can.
I started trying it near feeders after that. I would drive within 100-200 yards of a feeder that I knew had a bunch of raccoons hitting it and would get the caller out and play it. Wait a couple minutes and ride into the area where the feeder is located and simply look up in the trees around the feeder. You can remove a bunch of raccoons in a short period. A thermal scope helps but it is not mandatory. A good flash light will show you most of them.
Hope this tip helps. Save them turkeys!

I might have to try that --- you would do this after the season as to not mess up deer, correct?
