Any of y’all have any experience with implants?
I’ve got some work coming up and haven’t talked to anyone that has had them.
I’ve got lined up with a highly rated Periodontist so we will see.
Any input would be appreciated!

I lost 2 teeth after failed root canals. So I now have 2 implants. Grateful to have them. It’s a long process. Make sure the bank account has a good balance. Hella expensive. Never had a cavity but evidently I grind my teeth at night so I now I wear a guard at night to protect my investment.

I’ve had one that was easy and one that wasn’t. The one that wasn’t had the bone shelf chipped out to get a knotty root to release. It is one of the pristine teeth (incisor). It failed when the post was screwed in. It was repacked with a cadaver bone/silica mix, let it heal up and took the second time. The easy one was a split molar with no removal issues and both dentists/periodontists said they will be there for a long time.

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

I had a tooth with a cracked root pulled this year and the teeth on either side of it had previous crowns. I went with a bridge I am I am pleased with it. I didnt like the sound of the implant healing time.

I have a 3 unit fixed bridge and one of them has a broken root so he will section the bridge, extract the bad one, implant that one
and save the good one to use again. He said, no reason to pull a good tooth just to put an implant in. I appreciated him not
trying to sell another implant. Also I have a 3 unit partial and about a month ago I removed for the night and the anchor tooth
next to it broke off even with the gum 😳. Fortunately in was painless since we were in Sedona, Az. so that will be 2 more for atotal of 3.

I would not be able to do dentures because of a terrible gag reflex.

I have been saving me pennies….your correct, lots and lots of pennies, lol.

I loved my bridges too until they began to fail. I had them on all 4 corners.

I have 2 from a military accident. (I did complete the mission with a fractured jaw and two teeth missing) 😂🤣😂🇺🇸. The most important thing to remember is something you never hear talked about.

Unlike a tooth, the implant stud goes right into the jawbone, bacteria can travel down that shaft and cause infections or bone erosion.

USE MOUTHWASH SEVERAL TIMES PER DAY AND KEEP THE AREA CLEAN

USE MOUTHWASH AFTER ORAL SEX

USE MOUTHWASH AFTER RAW FOODS LIKE OYSTERS

Go on a liquid diet long enough for the bone to heal properly after being installed. Blend up a good beef stew or cans of Sirloin Burger soup and a multivitamin everyday.

I’ve had one for almost 20 years. The dentist is guy I grew up with and one of the first he did. It cost me $600 for implant and crown. Add another 0 they say now. He said mine is one of the remaining ones he knows of from the early days.

Well I have some experience on this topic unfortunately. I have an entire lower plate and was supposed to have one upper single tooth implant and am supposed to be getting my permanents after about a 5 month ordeal. I went to Clear Choice because I wanted to be unconscious for the extractions and liked the idea of everything being done in house. Spent months trying to find a good alternative to them but could not. Some of the highlights were
1. Waking up after 1st surgery I noticed the surgeon had been to busy to actually read my file and educate himself on what he was supposed to be doing because the top tooth was still there.
2. Went back two weeks later to get the missed tooth removed.Figured for a single extraction I could do local ok. I was wrong. Worst dental experience of my life and I have been in a chair a lot. Envision someone beating you in the face with a hammer for an extended period of time. And did I mention he managed to break off an adjoining crown at the root.
3. Went back two weeks later for the broke tooth extraction which they actually seemed to have done right.
Anyway I have spent over 5 months on a soft diet instead of 4 months but seem close to the end.
The good news is I got two free implants for the pain in my arse and the tooth they broke. The bottom plate is comfortable, solid and seems to be doing its job. Bad news is I still have an often uncomfortable and food packed crevasse at bottom of my gum from the incision to remove Torii which I will be discussing with Doctor this week. May still be having a discussion with the Dental Board if he does not have a solution.

I have two where root canals failed. One on each side on bottom.
Mine have been really good. No complaints, except the .$.
No way I’ll have dentures. Hard pass

Implants are great, but as mentioned are the most expensive and time-consuming of all your options. If you need two or more, you might consider going to Costa Rica to have the work done. they're arguably better at it and the industry is much better regulated than in the US. It'll be less than half the price even when you factor in the cost of traveling there twice. There are lots of great places in the US but also probably as many sketchy places. If anyone is promising 24-48 hour implants, run away! The implant process from start to finish will take 2-3 month at an absolute bare minimum, 3-6 months is probably most common and depending on your particular circumstances can take as long as 8-9 moths.

I knocked 4 teeth out in my fall in 2022. 3 front top and 1 on bottom where my chin split. I don't think the bottom one can be done. I don't have $21k to do the top 3 so i'll just live with this partial.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I have one. Went to a guy who is a dentist and medical doctor and only does implants and oral and maxiofacial surgery. Needed a bone graft on front incisor. It wasn’t bad but takes awhile before you can get your crown. Expensive and most dental insurance coverage on implants is limited. Physicians Mutual is the richest plan I sell
