It shoots the same weight bullets basically the same speed as a 7mm08 and a lot of folks on this forum consider the 7mm08 the perfect Alabama deer round I couldn’t get the speed out of the Creedmoor that I got out of the 7-08. And I tried because i really wanted it to go fast.

You don’t have the case volume to make them go fast. I’m sure you could with a 90-100gr but I’d want a little more weight then that.

My loads don’t drop below the minimum velocity for the bullets I’m shooting until past 1000 yards. It drops below 1800 fps around 650 yards. Not sure what less I could want it to do. Heck, my 223 gets me to 450 yards and it only has 25 grains of powder in it.

We loaded the 140gr Accubonds and they did a great job on the deer my buddy shot. We realized they don’t have to be pushed really fast. Another learning experience in the world of loading ammo.

I've shot deer from 25 to a little over 300 yards with them and always a quick kill. I've recovered a few in deer and the mushrooms always look perfect except when hitting a lot of bones. Retained weight is always 55-65% of the original weight no matter the distance. Expansion is consistent across a wide velocity range.

Brings to mind the old Hornady Light Magnums I use to shoot. Great factory rounds screaming at 3000 fps in 7-08.

Mainly because it’s one of the most popular calibers right now. Lot of folks buying them with unrealistic expectations. I’ve got a Model Seven chambered in it and It’s a great round for whitetails, but it’s not the 1000 yard magic sniper round a lot of folks make it out to be. Plus there’s a lot of hate out there for it and folks love to make fun of it. They’ll be a few along here shortly. Kinda my thoughts as well. Or using wrong type of bullet and unhappy with deer killing performance With my handloads, I would feel comfortable shooting an elk with my 6.5CM over 500 yards. I watched a video years ago that showed a bull elk DRT from over 600 yards shot with the 143 gr eldx. Mr. Knowitall gonna be along any minute and straighten y'all out. Ya gotta read the book.

100grain for 243 was nice too Recently clocked 80 grain TTSX at 3400 with a near max load of Superformance in a 243.
