Deer quarter toward me slightly, 180-200 yards. 3006 165 grn accubond. Where deer was standing marble size peice of meat, pure Chuck of meat, maybe two feet from that area small chuck of meat. 5 yards away where deer entered wood line spot where he stumbled real bad, small peice of bone. Not one drop of blood anywhere, not one hair. Where is deer hit?

Not necessarily. Bone and meat is almost always an indicator of a leg hit.

I popped one in the brisket 5 years ago and no blood. Found it dead 20 yards away in the woods.

I'm gonna give it till about nine, and go look for him. Like I said really good buck, but I'm thinking rifle was sighted in at a hundred , bullet may have dropped and got leg, but I really thought I would have hair. Couldn't find one single hair. Deer didn't look hurt when he run off, and I didn't see him stumble where dirt was tore up. Just weird. I'm good for this dumb crap about once a year

My cousin popped a doe with a 30-06 soft point over the weekend. We found a pile of hair but no blood. We searched the field and assumed he missed with a brisket shot by then found a tiny drop. The faucet turned on about 50-75yds from where he shot and it was laying in a thicket about 20yds later. It was double lunged and all.

If you got bone, chances are in your favor.give it an hour and do some more looking.

Usually when I monkey one up it's a stupid shot, trying to shoot behind me, no good rest ect.but this one was a good rest and I thought a good shot

3006 with 165gr bullet sighted dead on at 100 will drop 1.5-2” at 200. Good chance you hit the upper leg/brisket. He may be laying not far or he could still be running. Been there brother!!! Hope you can find him.

Most leg hits bleed good for 100 yards or so, till it clots.
Should be plenty of blood with bone.
I’ve tracked a bunch of them.

Plenty of good dogs in your area. Probably need to be bayed and shot. Upper leg is my guess also.

Looked for several hours never found a drop of blood, called a dog in took it to a pond nothing more. Pond is pretty big and am sure he's not in it. Went all around pond dog found nothing. Just one of those things I guess. Really feel bad. Guessing about a 140 ten point. Really thought I had a good shot on him. I only shoot one a year off my place so this has to count for him. Really sucks. Auburn fan, and can't shoot, guess I'll start golfing!
