Went out and checked a bow shot for a guy this morning.......Turned out to just be a shoulder shot......Ended up finding the arrow about 50 yards from the hit site

Tracked a back whacked doe lastnight. We jumped her but she never slowed down. Went for a little run this morning and made him swim across a private 35 acre lake. Was pretty cool watching him swim through a huge flock of mallards. We made a quick loop around and the deer went back in the lake. Figured he'd just keep playing games so I called Muzz off and let the hunter shoot him.

Put one across the Flint River in Owen's Crossroads earlier. Dogs had a really hard time tracking him. Looked like a graze across his back to me.

Went and checked a clean miss this morning and then went to another one and recovered a routine gut shot that was hit on a quartering to angle…….The entry is where Otis is licking and the exit is near the hindquarter

I hate backwhacks…..its a no win situation……You cant talk folks out of coming out to track it because what they saw was a badly hurt deer…and if you don’t go they act huffed up and mad about it……and if you DO go then often times they’re still disappointed when you get there and there’s three drops of blood and the track goes cold after 10 minutes and a few hundred yards……Then its like this big black rain cloud hanging over the whole situation……It might be the worst call there is and its probably every 4th one this time of year......

I ran a back whack and a brisket shot with a bow yesterday. I hope deep down inside my dogs go 200 yards and can't track them anymore but it usually turns into an exhausting waste of time

The one from last night got up from his bed ahead of us and the track went hot when we ran across it but I just called the dogs back...... I knew there wasn’t any use in us just running around the woods……The guy was bad down and disappointed too when I did and said something like….”Man, you don’t think you can bay him?”……..That’s why I say its like a no win scenario…..You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t…..

Went and tracked a frontal shot for the neighbor tonight. Pretty easy 100 yd track with no blood. He shot him with a 243 just a hair to the left of the deer’s left shoulder and it exited just past same shoulder. No blood till we put it on the four wheeler.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

0-2 so far today with likely a grazed brisket on the first one and just a bunch of hair blown off the back of the second one......About to head to another one though that sounds a lot more promising......

That last one almost gave us the slip……He ran off into a creek bottom and I believe “J” hooked around into his bed in a cane patch……The dogs ran right past him within 5-10 yards and then lost the scent……We kept searching and searching to try to pick back up on it but nothing…..Finally I told the hunter that we needed to back up to that last spot of blood he saw and see if we can figure out what happened….

Well, were walking back and he’s saying something like…..It was right in here somewhere, etc……when I saw Lu-lu start bobbing her nose in the air and about that time she bolted in this cane patch right beside us and all hell broke loose……The buck was just laying there less than 10 yards from us letting us walk all around him.

Riggs hasn’t gotten on a live one yet I’m interested to see him do it.

Got smoked by one in New Market tonight. Hard track to get lined out. Finally jumped him about 600 yards from the shot site. Lost signal to Muzz they got gone so fast. Finally drove around and picked up his collar enough to cut him off and call it. No blood or anything. Shot with a 300 blackout and waited 6hrs to start the track. Doesn't seem hurt either way.

The one from that story is the first one that I’ve been able to get to really jump right in front of Lu-lu’s face like that……It seemed to have lit a fire under her because when we were searching for that leg shot in the swamp you could just tell she was in a different gear hunting for him……I think something “clicked”……

We never could locate the leg shot in that swamp yesterday afternoon……The last blood the hunter had was on a little high spot and how he found it is amazing in itself……It was solid water in every direction for quite a ways..….Everything you see in the background of that pic was deeper beaver holes.....and behind me was more of the same.....We waded around checking highs spots trying to pick out a bread crumb trail but never could find where he went…..It was probably just as well though because from the way the hunter described it I don’t know that we would have been able to do much with him anyways……It sounded like he still had his running gear under him pretty good…….

Loosing signal with the Garmin seems to be more regular here lately. I had problems twice last week with newer collar.
