treemydog OP 8 point T Joined: Apr 2016 Posts: 1,897 Elmore County	Have a new to me Model 70 and was just piddling around trying to make a few rounds to shoot for the rest of the season. Worked up a few batches of 165s - Ballistic tips and Speer BTSPs. Wasn't even trying to work off the lands, just seated the bullets to make sure to fit in the magazine since this is a hunting sporter. Well - well at the nice surprise. I have a Remington 308 that I shoot LR that likes Varget for168s, but two Model 70s with hunting bullets (Sierras and Speers) in 165s love IMR-3031. It's my go-to powder for these hunting bullets in the Winchester sporters. Shot at 100 yards ... 1/4" group with the three shots through 2 touching holes, and the Accurate 2495 produced 5/8" group. The ballistic tips were a little over an inch, so they were very respectable, but I'll take the speers any day of the week. You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?
