myself and my friend have been hunting the same 1100 areas in middle Alabama for 20 years. When feeding deer was not legal we would see deer every hunt in our flots (green fields) feeding became legal about 10 to 12 years ago. We have noticed that our spotting of deer in our field have fell off substantially. we still have a lot of deer we see on cameras but not in our fields. They will eat tons of corn every year. I remember reading an article written by a biologist and he said that in 10 to 15 years that to see a deer in the daylight will be rarity because of the feeding. That is coming to be a reality. Also we see that the quality of bucks we harvest do not have the racks that they used to have. Just an observation.

This is my first year corning on private property and I'm surrounded by landowners that also hunt and corn. At least on camera, 95% of all buck sightings are at night. Run out of corn for even a day, and you'll lose all of your bucks on camera for several days. I'm actually having better luck hunting public land.

I have never fed corn. Always had corn or soybeans grown on our place.

Put up an automatic directional feeder like a Sweeney or Texas Hunter. You can fill it and only go back in to refill every 3 weeks or so. May take them some time to get used to feeder, but they will. I promise. Just don’t shoot does off of it. Let it bring in the live bait

Can some one please post the percentage of bucks and does killed this year so we can see if this is statically correct?

Hunters are the babies 🤣🤣

I will feed way less corn next year! Never wanted a spinner - spent way too much for corn - but guess i get spinners next year

Will figure out a way to win either way. Cant hunt my best 2 spots currently - maybe one day wind be right before season out. Supposed to rain all day tomorrow

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self

No correlation. Too much pressure or something else going on. Deer will walk past corn and eat grass plenty of times. Having both we watch them eat both

[quote=JohnnyLoco]I’ve been living with the corn BS for a while now and sorry they started it in Bama.

Let me tell you my strategy that I started because of coons but ended up bringing the bucks in all day long and very little at night.

First off I have feeder pens to keep the hogs out, only 7 panels so not too big. They are in the tightest cover, not in the open whatsoever. I started setting the timer for about 15 min before daylight crack of dawn-ish and 2 hours later. I did this because I wanted the corn and record rack golden nuggets cleaned up before dark as not to feed the coons. Now I get bucks all day long and very few night activities, they are going to other people’s feeders at night. Basically my feeder pens are like a Chinese buffet from mid summer on to January. Feed Blocks, mineral blocks, alfalfa, and so on.

All of my feeder pens are in heavy cover because they prefer them to pens in the open during the day.

I also keep my hog feeders as far away from the feeder pens as I can get them.

Sssshhh, this is a secret !

This is kinda what I was thinking for next year.. what feeders are you using

I have some All Season, Texas Hunter, and some homemade bomb proof jobbers because of the Rams.

Another thing, I run my timers for maybe 2 seconds. I have remotes on a couple if I wanna throw more. My goal for the feeders is to make a browse spot.

It's not their corn that's messing them up, it's yours and mine, haven't you been following along?

I saw 12 deer last evening on a food plot with a spin feeder on it, 8 does and 4 bucks...in daylight. They were hammering the brassicas, some of them never even made it to the corn.
