Been pontificating about cholesterol medicine and seems like nowadays doctors pretty much put everyone on it after 40 your body naturally produces the stuff and I believe you need more as you age I’m wondering. What the Aldeer doctors think about this highly controversial topic

Walk a couple of miles twice a day, no fast food, fruit instead of sweet sugary stuff, stop drinking beer, no food after 6 pm, and avoid processed foods like a married woman sitting alone in a bar. You won't have a problem with it.

I'll just take my meds. If I go home tonight I've had a good run.

The majority of people that have heart attacks do not have high cholesterol

They push statins on me at every checkup. I decline. At 57 I wear the same size pants I did in high school, don’t smoke, don’t drink, fast and exercise. My total levels are never lower than high 300’s. Both parents have high cholesterol and both of my sons do as well. Not giving advice for your situation, just sharing mine.

For a brief period I took a statin. No more. The side effects were not worth the offset. I exercise and have a good diet and mine only has ver comes in a few points high. Not worth taking meds for imo. Seems all a doctor wants to do these days is prescribe medicine rather than give advice on how not to go on a medicine.

I’d advise doing your research on what a statin does to your body and liver and then consider your options.

The majority of the cholesterol issue is genetic. Either your genes build up plaque from cholesterol or they don't. A heart attack can be caused by hundreds of different factors and cholesterol build up is just one of those factors. Plaque build up in the arteries just happens to be easy to see and common enough that it was one of the first things medicine focused on when it comes to the heart attack problem.

This is true for me
The cholesterol myth has gotten many people on statins and we have seen a dramatic increase in dementia also known as type3 diabetes
LDL cholesterol gets a bad reputation because it oxidizes easier than HDL and this is a part of the makeup of arterial blockages
I tried statins for a few months and found I was short of breath and couldn’t walk 100’ without leg cramps
Stress, inflammation and poor diet are the causes of heart disease
My last checkup went like this
Dr …all your numbers are great for your age (56) so just keep doing this and this and this and this
My response … Doc I’m doing none of those things but this is what I am doing Carnivore
Dr….well ok then keep doing that

I've been reading a lot of good things about carnivore.

Fish oil has gotten my number from 201 to 171 with a higher than average 'good' cholesteral count. No meds or other changes so I just keep swimming with the fishes.

wildbill, i generally advise people to see if they cant control their cholesterol with diet and exercise first, but in your case i would say definately take the meds, a double dose would probably be needed.

if your a big man like me I would. I do em and don't notice any side effects and it got my chlorestoral down. big men have heart attacks in their fifties, if you wait and find out, oh I got clogged arteries then what are you gonna do? now if your wearing the same size 34 pants you wore in high school then don't worry about it. but doctors know and you and me know that big die of heart attacks in their late 40's and early 50's.

Here ya go:

Plaque is caused by the metabolization of a strange form of D3 in Nightshade vegetables which cause soft tissue calcium deposits. (Genetics play a role in this)

The people in the world region with the Highest Cholesterol numbers have the lowest incidence of heart and vascular problems

Add 3 Tablespoons of Avocado oil per day to your diet minimum, your LDL will be substantially lower than your HDL after some time

Diet & Exercise

Boneless skinless Sardines

Take Statins if you need a head start then lay off

Don’t take MRna shots 😂🤣😂

Don’t be afraid of so called High Cholesterol numbers

Scrape, you are 100% right. I read something recently about the incidence of heart attack among retired nfl linemen (who were in great physical shape at some point).

This is what I learned from a well known cardiologist
If your HDL # X 3 is equal to or above your LDL# then you’re ok
Taking statins to lower your LDL cholesterol to levels lower than your HDL cholesterol will cause serious problems
Your brain needs LDL to function properly
LDL being too low will cause ED issues along with other problems with normal body function
In short your body needs LDL cholesterol

Your post made me think also of all the barrel chested men I have known who never made it out of thier 50's. Same for the thick neck type guys. I'm not trying to body shame but I I don't know of any 60+ guys of those body types.

I'm just a general giant and I'm sure my heart will give out before anything else does it's just facts, big bodies work a heart harder pumping blood to far off places.

I don’t take any meds and I don’t go to the doctor, so I can’t contribute to this conversation.
