Looking at a piece of property. It’s near 25 acres. Gonna need a tractor for the garden and up keep. Reccomendations?

I prefer kubota. Personally I wouldnt go less than a 50hp depending on how much upkeep would be required

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Bigger is better. Find the closest "good" dealership for when it breaks because it will. I don't have a preference on color. Orange is good, green is good, red is good. I'm sure others are too.

A lot of people will tell you to get a cab tractor. Unless it's wide open fields, you're going to be scraping branches and cab is going to be annoying. Plus it's more expensive.

25 acres….how about a 30hp tractor like a JD3032 or 2032. Even a JD 3025 would do. Get ag tires & FEL.

I have 29 acres and I don’t regret getting a larger tractor than a 30. I have a 45 horse. Whatever you get, I would make sure you have a good dealer and if you can find a good used pre DEF. that’s even better.

One thing to consider, are you keeping it on property? Or transporting. Size will make a difference depending on your ability to transport it back and forth.

Best scenario is keep it on property obviously. As most have said:

1. Close/good dealer.
2. Get bigger than you think.
3. Kubota has been a great tractor for me but best dealer close would trump brand.
4. Bucket is nice, 4x4 nice.

Good luck!

70's - early 80's John Deere - get something in the 50-70hp range --- This was before all the electronics

What type of "up keep" are you planning? All mowing open land or...??

Kubota is a great choice for the size tractor you need.

I had a john deere 5045e sorriest crap i have ever owned. Hauled it to scottsboro and fort payne dealership and got raped at both places. I use a john deere 5075e on a duck farm i work on and it has been excellent. I bought a new Kubota 5660 and i love it.

Are you thinking about a new or used one. A lot of good advice above.

35-50HP if towing regular . FEL & 4x4 is a must. Plumbed for a remote function for grapple etc is a bonus. Folding roll over protection with detach roof or bimini is nice also for tight areas. most importantly Stay away from any of the emission bull shucks (re-gin, DEF, etc). Several brands offering smaller HP engines without that emission garbage on em

I’ll add to my previous post when I suggested the MX6000. I bought 40 acres 3 yrs ago. This tractor has been great. 80% of what I do is bush hogging. I have a lot of pines and have had to cut and move quite a few with FEL and grapple after storms or winds in the spring. The HP has been plenty and done exactly what I need, however if I had to do it over again I would’ve bought a tractor with a wider footprint like the M60 series. I didn’t consider some of the weight that I’d possibly have to move with those trees and a tractor with a wider stance would’ve helped with that.

If you’re not planning on moving alot of heavy weight with the FEL then I’d still recommend the MX6000.

You need to think about resale value should your situations change. When the motor blew up in my john deere you could find used ones cheaper than what they wanted to put a motor in a tractor with only 600 hours on it. A lot of times you can make side money running your tractor. I am blessed to have a lot of people around me that have bought up land to hunt and they live out of state. Some people want it ready to hunt when they get time to. Everybody wants a dove field ready. Just a few things to consider.
