Hell seeing as this is a GW thread, that was first time i was introduced to one! My grt uncle shot up a fellers trailer one evening (he ran the club) is why we got the law there, BUT the deputy left and GW hung around a bit then left, but he came back and got me for corn and another feller for a Hen turkey! He's (Uncle) long gone now so reckon can tell that story later 😉

Lol hell that was 97 and they'd already had that for nearly 20 years then! Our Preacher at the time (he's passed on and no wasn't one in the club lol) owned the homestead with the camp, and little more across the rd. They let it go that year though, and Buncha folks from Mobile have it now i believe

I’m not sure how the numbers line up as far as bucks killed over the limit vs turkeys kilt over the limit but I know it happens. I can proudly say I abide by that law, but there could be 4 game wardens in my county, or any other county for that matter, and it would still be hard to regulate. I mean the true killers out there ain’t posting on social media, ain’t bragging to their buddies and sending pics of what they’ve done. They killing and keeping quiet. They have a circle of trust that’s very small and addiction for blood is always thirsty. And most of them will whip your end or burn your house if they catch you snooping around their gut pile… wardens can catch the few that are over the limit when they slip but the ones that kill in numbers have to be investigated

When we still had a club, one of our members poured corn on one of our plots and a neighboring property that wasn’t even on our lease. This was a few years before baiting even started being legal. The neighbor found it and called the GW. He was stuck up our butts the rest of the season. Got to seeing him so often the club pres and I quit hunting the RR Tracks. I’ve seen our local guy drive by a couple times this season and he was waiting on my wife when she came out from a morning hunt up on public land back in November,

On private ground I’ve never seen a GW. However, I bump into them all the time on public in Baldwin County. Specifically duck hunting the Delta and fishing really any of the waters. They have always been professional and respectful.

Had a lease in greenville yrs ago. They used to drive into our place & harrass the hell out of us every chance they got even during hunting hours. After they drove in on my son at 515pm I Had enough so i Super glued the timber co lock & blocked the main rd with a dummy vehicle every time we hunted . Always used an alternate way out when leaving. Would sometimes leave the vehicle sitting there for days hoping they were camped out on it. If they were gonna check us after that they better have some good walking boots & 1 of em looked like he’d never make it

I blew up some big beaver dams a couple of years ago. Big dams need big bombs lol. There is a house up here that was sold at auction and it was bought by a woman and they have a half a dozen or more people. My daughter was turkey hunting one evening behind my house. Somebody shot the lady's dog that evening from the road. She called the law and told them she seen the bullet hit the dog and it came from my food plot at the edge of the bottoms 700 yards away lol. When they came up here i had to talk to them. I told him he could wait and see when my daughter came out she was hunting turkeys with number 4s. Anyway, she still had to call and talk to them. A couple of weeks later is when I needed to blow the dams. They were flooding my timber and a huge crop field that joins me. Like in the song of the battle of New Orleans, when I touched the powder off the gator lost her mind! She called everybody local law and even Montgomery they sent some game warden up here he wasn't our local guy. After a little discussion when I told him some woman that owns 1 acre isn't coming in here and causing me to lose my timber and fields laying out. We hit it off pretty good. He said what you are doing is not illegal, but would you go talk to them and warn them next time. I promised him I would. I went to talk to them the next time I went. I found out they have seen a boa constrictor about 20 foot long and a cougar lol .I don't know exactly what i am dealing with there but I stop in and talk to the guys that stay there sometimes. I need to get them to join Aldeer they could get on one of the bigfoot- cat- 8 foot rattle snake threads and really enlighten y'all

I was working on a new property this year and the game wardens sent the biologists up here to see the damage I liked him a lot.

Your preacher will shoot multiple bucks in a day or over the 3 limit……It dang sure isnt just the hardcore outlaws……We don’t see shooting over the limit the same as spotlighting even though both bucks count as minus one and have the same impact…….The system is just too easy to beat for anyone to be worried about it…..A lot of folks don’t even bat an eye to it…….As far as “dropping a dime” on folks….I can assure you that I wont be doing any dropping…..If you want to change stuff like this then fix the system and do the things needed to enforce it…….

In my experience Preachers are the worst and i ain’t Bullshittin 🤣 Tell ya you won't see them at all, then season rolls around, and they done got a Teepee up walking around in a loincloth making arras and chit

Hey! I am offended by your post!!! smile

Well, maybe not, as I once had a preacher friend who boasted about his poaching. I can promise you I have never exceeded the season limit for deer and never will, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to shoot even one. The work that comes after is no fun.

Turning someone in for killing more than 3 without hard evidence is a waste of time. Any poacher who can't figure out how to beat this system is too dumb to be hunting anyway.

Has even one person been prosecuted for killing more than 3 bucks in AL? I've never heard of it. They get people for paperwork errors, but I've never heard of anyone getting caught for killing 4 or more. Please post it if you know of one.

Never been checked in 35 years on Skyline. I’m there almost daily in turkey season and make several deer hunts. The guys that come out early report seeing them.

Why would anyone be needing to "constantly seeing the presence of a green truck" to follow the rules? Many of us obey the law(s) because we choose to, not because we are scare not to.

I poached as a kid with the game warden’s (Fred) nephew (Richard) and a Fat guy named Johnny Maddox in the Celeste Rd region and many miles in all directions.

I never understood night hunting because it draws too much attention, easier to poach during the day.

I've been checked multiple times by Mr Green Jeans over the past 40 years, on both private and public land. With one exception around 1990 with a little chithead in Hale County, my interactions with them have been good.

When I arrived in AL, I made it a point to purchase a lifetime hunting license as soon as I legally could.....I also had a lifetime license for Louisiana.....about a month after I purchased my AL license, a GW showed up at my door to verify my official residence in AL, he was very polite and asked a few questions concerning how long I had lived here, etc. He was a young officer and said he really didn't want to come out, but his supervisor said they needed to verify everything. He shook my hand and told me to have a nice day and good luck hunting in AL....that was the only interaction I have had with a GW since I have been here.....

I had the Coosa county GW check me last weekend. I was in a jon boat doing some scouting in the management area. He was waiting on me at the boat launch. He said he had caught some people gun hunting on the management area earlier that day. It wasn’t a gun hunt day.

Well its to keep the folks who will bend the rules a little more honest……Its so that the guy who is loading up his second buck of the day thinks twice about it before heading back to camp with it in his buggy unchecked…..Most hunters arent the least bit concerned about it right now. A big reason for a lot of that is because the chances of running into GW are slim to none
