6 shot out of a .410? But why?

Cause that's what they had at the store. Patterning it was the point. I'll fine tune later. Heck I looked to order some more and they don't make 6 shot so it couldn't have been 6. Must have been 7 or 9. I'm thinking it was probably 7 because some of the pellets were shooting through metal roofing at over 40 yards.

The Yildiz is much lighter and cheaper at 3.3 be lbs and $129, but more expensive in the long run as you’ll need to have it drilled and tapped for a red dot mount and the barrel threaded for chokes. I sent my barrel to a gunsmith in northAlabama and had it back in less than a week.

Same gun and choke as I have, I just roll my own loads. I don’t tote it often, but it’s an awesome little gun. I’ve killed 5-6 with it at 20 gauge ranges.

#9 will blow thru metal roofing at 40. This will be my 13th season carrying 410 and it’s good to 45 easy. I’m around 67 birds with my Kmart special 410. I shoot mostly handloads but have used Apex with great results.

CB came from Kmart in early 80s.

That's the big chunk of Chinese steel, right? Lots of people like them. Seems like you may as well get the 20ga over the .410 since they weigh the same.

For .410 I prefer a tiny bit of Turkish aluminum from Academy.

In a 410 you get what will throw a killer pattern , most won't . Those little 301s and a few others are the only ones that will make the grade.

You can buy .410 turkey chokes just like everything else. The critical part is the load. .410 is persnickety and factory shells aren't as consistent as needed to be sure of performance.

I've seen some that won't shoot regardless of choke. I do agree , 410s are not forgiving when it comes to shells. I have a great combo in my 301 with factory choke , polished bore and some highly tested hand loads. The only person I know that has thrown more TSS at paper than me, is the man who developed the load.

I have an ATI over and under that so far has shot really good patterns with Federal and Apex. I bought some Browning on sale, haven't tried it yet. I 'm sure it will suck since it was so cheap and i bought a bunch of it :-)

That's my point. If you're going to carry the weight, just get the 20ga. You'll double the number of pellets so you don't have to go through all the fine tuning. Different stroke for different folks, though, I guess. My only interest is in a 3.3# gun.

Glad you found a hobby you like with patterning. Seems like there a lots of people who enjoy that.

The .410 301T is nowhere close to the weight of the 20 gauge 310T. I know because I own them both.

The 20 gauge is 1.5 lbs heavier than the .410, just weighed them.

I rechecked the TSS box to see what they were and they are 9 shot. I must have read the 9 upside down LOL !
