Let me know what area you get. I’ll have to check but I think I was in area 16.

There's no turkeys on Portland. Save your points, decline, and just let an alternate waste their time there.

I did watch a hunting video where it was loaded with snakes. Hopefully I'll get a good zone some looks like wet. Ive never been to Portland SOA do they give you enough land in a zone to hunt? Like how many acres are in each zone

I read some about Portland today after seeing this, how did the state get this land if Mossy oak once owned it! I can't see them ever letting that go! Were they jusy leasing it?

They leased it. A Timber man bought it and cut a lot of the timber off it. All he could get to. And then sold it. The state bought it in a few pieces I believe.

Look on the Alabama outdoors site and you can see the map. Then compare it to OnX to see the acreage of each section.

It’s loaded with deer, hogs, turkeys, dove, any kind of game you can think of, and yes snakes too. That Portland area on the river between Camden and Selma is some of the finest property (was even finer back in the 70s and 80s before all the cutting) and probably the most game rich area in the entire state. It’s literally a zoo. Based on what I’ve seen and heard areas are 400-600 acres.

As I recall, you only get the day before to scout. Reach out to the manager. His house is over by the river. He knows where every bird is on the place. He told me where 2 were in a swamp behind his house (heard them but couldn’t get to them due to water) and another one by a field on the river. I got on the one at the river on the last morning but missed him at 50 yards.
