I remember as a kid you could bust a covey of quail in N Bama every 300 yards. We had great bird dogs. This was in the seventies. No more row crops or fence lines anymore. Coyotes and more predators. And then they disappeared in the eighties

Congrats on a great trip! The last time I got any wild quail was on a trip to OK. It wasn't nearly as good as the outfitter said it would be, but we killed a few.
All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.
