I have seen more large groups of them this year than I have in a long time.

I remember seeing them outside Mobile as a kid in the 80’s. It’d be by the thousands at a time and would go on for days. I don’t think I’ve seen such since the mid or late 90’s maybe. Similarly, I hunted a place in MS near Wiggins. About this time the red-breasted robins would show up by the hundreds of thousands and descend into the woods to forage. I’d put earplugs in to try and keep the noise down. Imagine trying to deer hunt with a few squirrels foraging in dry leaves and then imagine 600 squirrels per acre.

As a kid I remember them coming in by the hundreds at my grandparents farm. It was fun to sneak up, bust them and then unload 5 shots of number 8’s into the rising swarm. Seems like I remember knocking down around 40 one time.

They truly are stunning beautiful birds but that squaking can make you go deaf!

My dad grew up eating blackbird pie. Said they'd take a long 2×12, place a stick under one end with a string tied to it. Place some corn under it. When they went to eat the corn pull the string and then run stomp on it.

LUCK:::; When presistence, dedication, perspiration and preparation meet up with opportunity!!!

I used to plant milo. It got to where a flock of blackbirds lived in it. They would all take off when deer come to the field and the deer would run off. I had to quit planting it. Only time i ever saw a deer eat the milo, it was a morning after a snow, a doe came out and ate some of the milo seedheads
