Winter snow forecasts for around here are always messed up. I think its because the Wather people down here have to call the wather guys up there and ask how to figure it. We aint good at figuring things like they figure things.

Skinny is right not model data in the south for them to figure out how to forecast those events. I do check out the "Max Velocity" guy on youtube. His storm coverage is pretty good. He is calling for a major snow storm somewhere in the south eastern U.S. but said it could be anywhere from Louisiana to South Carolina and any where in between. At least he was honest to say there is no way to know where yet.

I wish it would snow. Love hunting in snow. Driving not so much. Last big storm in Brantley back 10 years or more I killed a nice 9 point. Something about following a blood trail in the snow that’s cool. ![rofl rofl](/forum/images/graemlins/default/roflmao.gif)

Last time it snowed in Brantley and Luverne I remember driving down Sheeptrail covered in snow in 4wd. Not sure how I made it to the gate. Wet snowy muddy mess but it was beautiful drive up that road. Looked like a winter wonderland.

Why could it never happen? It has before. 🤷🏼♂️
But I do agree that seems a little aggressive. The models are getting a little hairy for next week so we’ll know in a few days. Has it really snowed a foot of snow in South Alabama in one day??

Good question. I remember the one 10 years or so ago was enough accumulation to cover roads and woods good for several days but I don’t know how much it was. I’d guess maybe 6-8 inches max?? I remember it started snowing hard at deer camp late afternoon in Brantley and kept snowing hard all night into next morning. It seemed like a lot of snow for S. AL but not sure it was close to a foot.

I looked back at pictures and video from 1/29/2014. Guess it seemed like more as I’ve only experienced 2 snowstorms in AL. ![rofl rofl](/forum/images/graemlins/default/roflmao.gif)

Both were not a verified true Foot of Snow, but that is about what it was in the right spots. The other was a few years after. Before that it was "The Storm of the Century" ('93 I think, correct me).
