Just pulled up my wather app looking at the 10 day for Barbour County and it showed 11-13 inches of snow in the forecast for Tuesday into Wednesday. Obviously, that is some crazy modeling run and will never happen. What are y'all hearing about the potential for snow in SE Alabama next week? Trying to plan my days off.

Why could it never happen? It has before. 🤷🏼‍♂️

But I do agree that seems a little aggressive. The models are getting a little hairy for next week so we’ll know in a few days.

I’ll I know is that it will be cold. I mean really cold if the numbers stay at what they are now.

It be's that way sometimes.

Winter snow forecasts for around here are always messed up. I think its because the Wather people down here have to call the wather guys up there and ask how to figure it. We aint good at figuring things like they figure things.

Skinny is right not model data in the south for them to figure out how to forecast those events. I do check out the "Max Velocity" guy on youtube. His storm coverage is pretty good. He is calling for a major snow storm somewhere in the south eastern U.S. but said it could be anywhere from Louisiana to South Carolina and any where in between. At least he was honest to say there is no way to know where yet.

I wish it would snow. Love hunting in snow. Driving not so much. Last big storm in Brantley back 10 years or more I killed a nice 9 point. Something about following a blood trail in the snow that’s cool. rofl

I am planning for historical standards. Cold, wet, cold irritable, and muddy.

Last time it snowed in Brantley and Luverne I remember driving down Sheeptrail covered in snow in 4wd. Not sure how I made it to the gate. Wet snowy muddy mess but it was beautiful drive up that road. Looked like a winter wonderland.

Has it really snowed a foot of snow in South Alabama in one day??

Good question. I remember the one 10 years or so ago was enough accumulation to cover roads and woods good for several days but I don’t know how much it was. I’d guess maybe 6-8 inches max?? I remember it started snowing hard at deer camp late afternoon in Brantley and kept snowing hard all night into next morning. It seemed like a lot of snow for S. AL but not sure it was close to a foot.

I just hope if we do get more winter weather that it is cleared up and gone by the 27th. Gonna be pissed if my hip surgery gets rescheduled.

The one 10 years ago in Andalusia was maybe 2 inches and that is probably being generous.

Yeah you’re right Andalusia about maybe 2”. I looked back at pictures and video from 1/29/2014. Guess it seemed like more as I’ve only experienced 2 snowstorms in AL. rofl

Yes, twice in the last 20 years since I have lived here. One of those days was the birth of 3rd kid, so I remember that one good in 2010 February. Both were not a verified true Foot of Snow, but that is about what it was in the right spots. The other was a few years after. Before that it was "The Storm of the Century" ('93 I think, correct me).

The reason I remember is because I occasionally see these pictures from that snow!
