Well it does affect me……When there is no quality to be shot at then there is no quality to be tracked…..

bulldoodoo...I see a ton of successful track pics of deer that needed 2 or 3 more years.

Sure there are some getting tracked…….but tracking is way, way more lucrative when there are a bunch of mature bucks running around that folks are wanting to try and find……A lot of guys aint gonna pay $$$ to come out and look for the dink they shot at unless it’s their kids first deer or something of that nature…..but they will for that wall hanger……..I’m just being real and keeping it a 100…… How many does do you think I get called out on?...... Quality matters

BINGO...all these threads about bait, limits, regs, etc all have 1 narrative.

Yes.....money matters........people spending big money to buy recreational hunting properties matter…….This seems to be the way the game is played….I didn’t make the rules

Maybe they should buy boats?

Like I said in an earlier post. Make buck tags $500 ea. Buy as many as you want when you buy your liscense. No rollover. That'll fix it.

Enough are though to have a pretty significant impact…..Some small properties are shooting 1…..some are shooting 3……some are shooting more……Had a call over the weekend for the second one needed tracked of the season for someone out of the same backyard…..I’m just saying, extrapolate the numbers out that are being killed for every backyard and 10 acre parcel and it matters…..and yes corn is the root of that issue……

Btw.....y'all slay me acting like I form my opinion based on that one phone call or something.... grin

If corn is at the root of the issue, let's kill the root, instead of poisoning the fruit. I never was a big fan of the corn anyway.

If this is about getting accurate numbers of dead deer, That goal will not be accomplished by tags. Having tags and using tags is not the same thing. If an accurate count of dead deer is what we are after, just have folks fill out a survey before buying next year's license. That is what we do with migratory birds.

The first thing they should start enforcing is night hunting with dogs

It just depends on how much the green trucks ride around and how much the fine is for getting caught…..You have to at least make their be a reasonable risk of getting caught and for it to hurt enough if it happens that most folks will comply due to not wanting to "risk it"……Also, these bright green tags are supposed to be on the rack even when you do get it back to camp…..So even if you have it hung up at camp or the head in the back of your truck…..its still a liability for you if it isnt tagged……

So the limited number of Mr Green Jeans will be spending more time checking for tags instead of catching poachers, trespasser and outlaws.

Great idea.

People who shoot over the bag limit ARE poachers……Those deer are just as illegal as the ones that get shot at night and count just the same….

I'm sure you're just trolling, but nobody cares if the big landowners don't see as many deer as they used to. Tell them to hunt harder or put up a fence. They can't kill a deer, but the guy with 10 acres and a sack of corn is stacking them up like cordwood? Something is wrong.

Also, tags won't even slow an outlaw down.

Don’t invest in tags, invest in game wardens.

Well what happens is legalized Feeding (with the purchase of a permit of course) done to Hunting what NIL is doing to College Football! Errrry Big important landowner i know/knew (That Hunts!) was "Supplemental Feeding" year round long time ago, BUT now the playing fields level (well somewhat cause i can't keep up with 'em lol) and "some" don't like it! I remember one who's just a miserable old bastage who would show up AGAINST baiting of any kind, cause he didn't want it legalized, he wanted to keep that SABAN edge 😉

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!
