That is on the bucket list. Looks like a great hunt and glad to see you shooting a real shotgun. We still have several coveys on my place and I burn and try to improve the habitat but doubt I will ever have a truly huntable population. Quail in Alabama have a whole lot of things working against them.

Very cool. Only thing cooler would be if this was in Bama!

The first time I went quail hunting in Texas we found 18 coveys before lunch

We only shot covey rises and killed 63 between 5 of us that day. I was hooked

Habitat changes are why most of AL don’t have the quail populations they used to. It’s not just a predator issue. There’s more quail in areas with better habitat. There’s plenty of predators in TX and every other state they are thriving in.

Congrats on a great trip! The last time I got any wild quail was on a trip to OK. It wasn't nearly as good as the outfitter said it would be, but we killed a few.

That looks like a great trip Matt. I have never seen a scaled quail before.

I might be a little jelly. Closest I get is why my squirrel dog gets birdy and we ease up on a woodcock.

Saw a bunch of quail on my last deer hunting trip to Texas.

Need to bring a shotgun on my next trip.
