The glass and clarity have NEVER been better than at leupold right now.
Sadly, their quality is down. Just search the internet and you will see what I mean.
To add a scope to the list, I just got my 2nd Viper HD scope. It’s new for the year. Improved glass and coatings.
To me, this thing is optically on par with the VX-5 for 500-600 bucks. Plus, it has an illuminated dot. Great looking scopes. However, I'm not a fan of the cluttered up , BDC reticle for woods hunting. So many scopes are great, but lack a good , closer range , deer killin' reticle.

Surprisingly Burris hasn’t even been mentioned.

Burris got bought out and combined with Steiner. They are still making some of the best US made scopes, but the product line is weird. Not a lot of good reticle choices.

I have the MeoSport R and a MeoStar. The big difference is in low light. I had to turn on the illumination to see the reticle to harvest a cow elk in the shade of trees. I have taken multiple animals with my MeoStar and never used illumination.
