Believe it or not, I shot a doe a few years ago with a new to me 30-06 that the gunsmith at Marks sighted in. It was an odd angled shot, the deer was walking away from me, on my left, maybe a 45 degree angle. It must have taken a step to its left when I pulled the trigger, because the bullet hit it in the back leg, and then bounced off that and hit its front leg on the same side. Dropped the deer where it stood. Then it got up and ran off. I found blood, it looked like lung blood, and bone fragments and assumed I had taken out some ribs too. The blood trail was all over the place and ended up finding the deer standing in the woods, completely out of breath, and dispatched it.
I would have sworn it was a lung shot coming out the brisket, or the left side shoulder. Nope.
