Hello all, I've kicked the idea around for several years now and I think I'm finally ready to pull the trigger (hehe) on getting back into bow hunting. My plan right now is to get a bow soon after this season ends and brush up on my target practice and just getting comfortable again with shooting a bow before next October.
I haven't bow hunted or even shot a bow, other than a few one off's, since I was a teenager so I'm completely out of the game. For all I know, they've got Bluetooth bow's now that I can shoot from a cell phone app. Joking aside, I'm looking for recommendations on an entire setup, as well as what that includes exactly. The last time I bow hunted, I had the bow, arrow, and a sight. I'm sure that's all you really need at the end of the day, but if there's any other add-on's, mod's, or support gear (flux capacitor) you think I won't be able to live without, feel free to leave it in the comments also!
Budget wise, I'm hoping to stay below $800-$1000 if possible. I'm sure my wife is going to be thrilled that hunting season will be starting a month early next year for me so I'd like to keep the hit our bank account takes to a minimal if possible.
Thanks in advance.

I used to be a hoyt dealer a long time ago. Mainly because Matthew's gave me a hard time because of the size of my shop. I swore I would never buy a Matthew's bow. But I thought about getting back into bow hunting a year or two ago, seems like hoyt has priced themselves out of the market. I would prefer a hoyt but don't believe their twice as good as the others. Is this correct or was it just the bow shop I went to high as crap?

Go to Pat's in Jasper. Ask for Paul. My last 2 bows were shipped to me here in Oregon from him. Great to deal with

I'd recommend buying a used bow of facebook, this forum, archery talk, ebay, etc.
For $800-$1000 you can get a 2 yr old flagship bow w/ all the accessories included.
yes - i’ve had great success with this strategy
