Hunting the heat wave…

I’m across the road and it’s still raining in Tallapoosa county. Neighbor behind me killed the tall brow tine buck I was after. He has. More acres than me and can hold the bucks on his place.

Been pouring down here at Uchee this morning so we slept in. About to hit the Waffle House for some killing fuel and then head out for a midday hunt. May do a little slipping around since it’s wet and quiet.

Still raining in bullock. Gonna hit it later this morning. Had some gobs on camera at 7am.

Was getting ready to leave and my 6 year old daughter came downstairs asking if she could go. We just got settled. Saw a doe walking in. It’s so foggy we can’t see further than 50 yards. We’ll be out here for an hour or two, maybe the big boys are still after some tail.

I've seen at least 5 so far. One small spike, a yearling doe running around like crazy about 7:30. Then saw at least 5 about 8:00 off through the woods the direction the spike and doe went. Still raining off and on, and much colder than I anticipated.

Maybe she will find her bearings before the yotes get to her.

I can’t stop coughing. I think I am just going to keep the grunt tube busy. With coughing and grunting at the same time.

Heading to the Redneck blind on a greenfield with a feeder on it. Should be a great afternoon to hunt. If you hunt in the Blackbelt, you need to be hunting this weekend and the next two.
