So I seent this earlier on the social media page of a local hunting lodge along with the pic of a hunter and a big hog…. I thought it would be something fun to have an opinion about…… smile

"John Smith didn’t pass on hogs this evening. Probably as a result of a stern lecture. Great shot. Thanks for participating in the management plan. Congratulations !"

Maybe its just a joke or something but if I paid however much it is that they pay to go on a 4-5 day deer hunt in Alabama in January then I would say piss on your hogs……I didn’t spend my money and limited time hunting to come here and manage pigs for you. If the rule is that you have to shoot pigs if you see them I’d be out on that or I’d just not tell about seeing them….

I like shooting stuff. I’d be down for shooting pigs.

Again this is just another social media opinion piece that matters about as much as the rest of them……and the place seems to do well so who am I to judge it…..But I’ve kept up with the posts from there for a while and lecturing to the guests seems to be a common theme….. JMO but I don’t think folks pay money to go on paid deer hunts to be lectured to about management…..they go to enjoy themselves……If you have a deer management plan then have rules to go by and enforce them when they’re broke with a smile and let that be it…..But I just cant imagine that stern lectures to grown men on pigs adds to the enjoyment of someone wanting to be a return guest

I would shoot em if I paid for a deer hunt. Heck no.

And I wouldn’t expect my clients to either.

The funny thing about the whole situation is that there’s so many damn pigs surrounding that place for miles in every direction that it doesn’t make a hill of beans difference when a hunter potentially wastes his morning or afternoon hunt to kill ONE……

How is the hunt wasted by killing a pig?

Shoot em in the guts so they walk off after the shot. Buzzards and yotes get a good meal.

I have killed several pigs thanks have been gut shot so they would run off and die by other people and they didn’t die. A pig can survive being gut shot.

Well if you’re in a good spot to kill a mature buck then there’s a good chance that he’s bedded up close by somewhere……. and contrary to some folks opinions on here..... rifle shots from your stand do not help your chances of him coming your way…..I dang sure wouldn’t want to pay $3,000 to go on a deer hunt at a place infested with pigs and then be forced to lower my chances at a deer in order to shoot at every pig I see……Even from a deer management perspective if my goal was trying to put mature deer in front of hunters on food plots then I would want to keep those fields as unpressured as possible…..Do your pig killing and doe killing somewhere else…..

If you're paying for an outfitter in Alabama, your chances of killing a mature buck are slim.

I guess because your rifle goes bang and lessens the chance of a mature buck hanging around.

I follow them as well,as they're not that far from us. From the outside looking in,they need to humble themselves a little bit and quit having online arguments with other pay to hunt places. From the pics of the deer they're patrons shoot, they need to do a better job of educating their guests on what to look for in identifying a mature deer. I normally wouldn't address the entire issue with most places, but they are very outspoken about their own knowledge, and often times straight up disrespectful in their delivery. Feel like that place has potential but they'd never get a dime from me due to their ownership thinking he's the end all be all when it comes to managing a solid deer herd. I agree w/ you 110%. If I'm paying thousands of dollars for a trophy deer hunt,I'll determine if I want to shoot a pig or not,and better not get a lecture from a keyboard tough guy. That owner needs to hire a social media rep; he's often times way off base with his remarks

This is why you should stick to being an internet troll instead of an outfitter

If I ran a big pay to hunt place like that I’d make it bow hunting only……that takes care of a lot of issues….……That’s assuming there’s enough folks out there willing to pay to go on a quality bow hunt…..Ironically the place in question above seems very anti bow hunting.....

Most bow hunters are serous hunters, they're not paying $3000 to come to Alabama and hunt. The people who pay to come to Alabama, either because of time or money can't go anywhere else. These are usually city rednecks who just want to kill something and go home and tell a story.

If I’m on a paid whitetail hunt, I’m not shooting anything but a deer. Piss on a hog, coyote or bobcat. On my lease, I’ll shoot every hog or coyote I can. I don’t shoot bobcats anymore. Piss on the turkeys. I won’t shoot a coyote or hog with my bow anymore. I’m sick of getting my arrows broken by them. I carry a pistol for that when I’m bowhunting.

I’ve done that multiple times. Not crappy deer either. Real nice deer.
