I’ve seen that before. Pretty cool but I wonder how they make water tight connections for fittings. Especially if they claim it can be done without digging. Got to be able to access that fitting somehow to at least cut a hole in the new liner

To do a fitting you would have to dig it up and convert to conventional methods. Taps as well. So if you re-line the pipe you have to dig up every fitting and tap. It’s really only cost effective in big city applications. Pretty cool technology. They’ve been r-lining pipes for years but not this easy and effective.

I just thought about it when they showed the fittings but maybe that was just for video purposes only.

I just thought about it when they showed the fittings but maybe that was just for video purposes only. They would probably come behind the lining and cut the old fittings out and put new ones in. That’s the way they used to do the drag in liners.

How much does that magic goo cost? From the way it works I have to wonder if it cost more than the pipe?

How much does that magic goo cost? From the way it works I have to wonder if it cost more than the pipe? Probably a lot less than digging up miles of pipe, or ripping walls out of old buildings to replace piping. I’m sure it ain’t cheap, though, nor should it be.

How much does that magic goo cost? From the way it works I have to wonder if it cost more than the pipe? Oh I’m sure it costs more than the pipe itself. Probably way more. The cost savings comes in long trench excavations in the middle of a city and all the damage to existing utilities that no one knows is there. Not to mention street and pedestrian reroutes. People to man those reroutes. So the installation of the cheaper conventional pipe would cost much more potentially. Even directional boring applications would be more expensive.

Used something similar about 30 years ago to fix a plant drain pipe. The company we used, I think, was Insituform. It was a chemical drain pipe at the old Nicholson File plant in Cullman.
