Ok,what are the best wadders to get now that aren't sitka or chene?is there anything that will last more than 2 seasons?last pair I had were 130 dollar neoprene cabelas they lasted like 7 years.I don't think they are as good anymore, not sure though.

Seems most breathable waders are only good for a season or two before they start leaking. I’d go with a pair of Avery from Roger’s sporting goods. Also check out gator wader.

3 tubes of Aquaseal is my limit on Banded waders, so I'm in a new set of Lacrosse Wetlands II. I like the removable insulation, so they are 2 waders in 1. I had sticker shock when I went looking at waders. I was expecting $300/350 range, but inflation jumped the price up a bit...OOF!! The other options that were in stock were $600 and up...nope.

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

Rogers "Toughman" waders used to be the[won't-break-the-bank] go-to on the forums I frequented a few years back. They still make those?

I don't want to hunt in a pair of wadders. Those things are uncomfortable when you walk and folks look at you funny when you pull at them. grin

I bought a pair of breathable Tidewe waders last year. So far two season in and they do not leak. If they do they were cheap enough to replace.

Bought a pair of Itasca Marsh Kings off Wing Supply and have been very happy with them. Breaking Ice and walking though timber and no leaks. Though I have my son in my old Hodgman waders and they still are dry after 15 years.

This is him in them today.

I’ve worn different kinds for 53 years - I like insulated rubber ones and suspenders the best, don’t like neoprene to clingy and too hot most of the time, shoogoo helps at times, cheap, etc. Two best ways to store, use a boot hanger and hang them in a closet or get them good and dry then store in a dark tote. I also like to use light merino base layers and thick fleece sweatpants with foot stirrups. I’m not much into spending a ton on them.

I think there’s a difference between individual sets. For instance, I’ve had the same model of frog toggs last half a season before the seams starting leaking and bought the exact same pair and they’ve lasted 3 seasons so far. Same thing with drake.

Agree. Wader shopping has been hit or miss for a while now, even in the same brand/model. It may’ve been the poor management practices of reselling returns, but I got 3 pair of Drakes from them that all leaked (bad) in different places, out of the box. They were all returned within 2 hours of buying them, as we had a pool to test them, so they weren’t tested “in the field” and returned muddy. First pair leaked around both boots, second pair leaked at every shell slip on the chest and third leaked at the belt loop. Management finally told me this is the last pair we’ll swap and we’re doing this out of courtesy, as (their words) “Drake doesn’t warranty waders above the waist”. I inquired with Drake, over the phone, and Drake told me that was false and they’d have a conversation with the manager. The store didn’t make it….surprise!!…due to poor management practices. I’ll never buy (and haven’t) another Drake product, over that fiasco and told Drake so, after they tried to send another set. Told them I’d sell them without even opening the box…I’m done with Drake. Yes, I’ve run across many who’ve never had an issue and love their Drakes/Banded/whatever brand I’ve had that leaked like sieves.
