I'm all for what makes you happy, makes me happy when it comes to hunting. Whatever rules are established by the club members - should be followed by all club members, families, and guests.

What if you give the green light for kids to shoot whatever and they choose upon themselves to wait for a bigger buck? Who’s fault is that and who’s the blame?😝

That’s because you’ve taught them right. You’ve taught them conservation and management. And patience and probably another 5 or 6 character traits that don’t come naturally to todays youth.

The answer could be surprising. I told boys I started they could kill what ever but I also showed them pictures of what was out there . Id tell them if they let the youngs ones go that big one might come by. They didn't kill many young bucks . The couple that still hunt still let the small ones go .

They fall into that 20%. They have heard Dad complain since birth about what everyone else is shooting and it stuck. I think that's great. Big buck killers kids turn in to big buck killers much like corn pile killers, well.

I'd rather my grandkids kill spikes than play video games though.

There's a feller on here that would have died to start this thread. This is way better than tags or corn!

Well.....until you pull the trigger. Isn't the ultimate goal of hunting, killing? I mean if it's not, then it should be called "watching", like "bird watching".

I mostly watch with some killing. I enjoy it too.

Heck I tried to get my 10yr old daughter to kill a 3yr old 8pt yesterday afternoon and again this morning, but she passed on both of them. She's killed several good mature bucks though and has better trigger restraint than a lot of seasoned hunters that I know. My 6yr old on the other hand won't hesitate to pull the trigger so I have to help him make decisions on whether to shoot or pass!

My daddy whipped me one time for shooting fish in the creek with a .22 rifle. It was about 55 years ago he didn't whip me for shooting them he whipped me for wasting them.

Careful. She’ll grow up to be a trophy hunter and whine, gripe and complain about everybody else.

She also believes cell cameras should be illegal. 🤣

I could say a lot . It starts with adults that just because we have a three buck limit doesn't mean you have to shoot three. Just because you see a 120 inch buck doesn't mean you have to shoot it . Neighbors let deer walk to get age and the other neighbor kills it because they can . There's so many things we could all do better .

Yall are going about it wrong. I help my neighbors out. They want mature trophies, so we kill all the young ones. That way, they only see the mature ones. Everyone wins! 😀

This little fella here wanted to go deer hunting. He stayed with us the weekend it snowed, hunted three times and Joseph got him on this spike. He was happy as he wpuld have been if it was an 8pt. He took part in dressing it, went to the processor and hunted with me the next day and we saw a bunch of deer. I dont particularly like kids a whole lot but he was a joy to be with all weekend. He told his mama it was one of the best weekends he ever had. I showed him the deer me and Joseph have killed and told him now hes in the game with two points. He said next year he would kill one with more points. I sure wouldnt give that weekend up to let that spike grow a year.
