VX3HD Firedot can be purchased new for less via their VIP program and have better quality glass. What am I missing? Nothing. I have several of both. The VXR is more like a heavy duplex reticle with a dot and the vx3hd reticle is a little bit different and not as thick as the VXR reticle Both have similar glass IMHO.

I've seen where VX-R glass has 94% light transmission . That's pretty strong. My little 2-7 X 33 is mighty , mighty clear. The VXR duplex / firedot is what I describe as a light heavy with the red dot. If there's a better woods reticle out there I haven't seen it.
