If the outfitter was worth a mess he’d have the pigs under control or ran off to the neighbors… build the big pen pin penthouse

If I ran a big pay to hunt place like that I’d make it bow hunting only……that takes care of a lot of issues….……That’s assuming there’s enough folks out there willing to pay to go on a quality bow hunt…..Ironically the place in question above seems very anti bow hunting.....

Yes. He likes to post videos of hunting shows with poor shot placement from bow shots and give his professional breakdown of it all. Isn't Sehoy right up the road, and consistently producing better bucks w/ bow only setup?

I'm with CNC on this one (except the bowhunting part).

A big part of making hunters happy is for them to see a lot of deer……A hunter will be satisfied going home empty handed if they saw a lot of deer and felt like they had a chance on a good one…..Maybe he just stayed out of bow range or something…….Places that have only been bow hunted for years and not had rifles constantly capping them off green fields have deer that are far more visible. What hunters don’t like is to pay money to go sit in a stand and not see chit…….

While I enjoy seeing deer, I prefer to hunt with what I think gives me the best chance. For me, that's a gun.

If I were hunting for mature bucks on a big piece of private land with few other hunters then I can definitely see that…..You want to be able to make it happen when he steps out……That’s different though than running a bunch of pay hunters through a property while keeping trying to keep the quality of the hunts high for all them……I purposely want that guy to have a bow in his hand and have to watch some of those bucks out of range so that the next group of hunters will be able to see them too 😉

Fair enough. You're coming from the outfitter's perspective and I'm coming from the hunter's. Of course, as the hunter, I'm expecting there to be a huntable population of representative bucks.

I have also killed mature bucks with a dead hog laying on the field.

I killed a 5-1/2 year old buck in Texas last January and the other mature bucks with him didn't leave until I got within about 150 yards of them.

What if we could do a study on it where we could repeat the process of shooting your rifle near a mature buck 100 times and measure to see how many times he was effected and how many he wasn’t…….If it came out to be 50/50 would you risk it??......If I’m serious about trying to kill a good one then the answer is no…..

You should contact Steve Ditchkoff about your great idea for deer study...

I would much rather shoot a massive boar with the dream of a true Spanish Boar genetics then near about any deer. Jeeze shoot both.
I hunted a redfox squirrel that was as big as a monkey and would coulda had sex with the Monkeys mate. I think the massive red fox squirrel is the greatest trophy speciman I have ever seen.

Some years ago a major game magazine showed pictures of a big russian boar offering hunts. Not really my thing, but some folks like it, so there is a market. I would spend my days after the trophy and if they wanted me to shoot a hog I would say put me on the trophy buck first then we will talk about hogs. If I was the outfitter I would cnsider offering guided hog and varmint hunts in off season if I felt like it would not interfere with my deer. With Alabama's mild winter weather some folks would like to visit in January-March. Some folks need to consider even letting dog hog hunters on property in the off season as hogs get out of control. Can't fool a dogs nose. No where to hide! Hogs can find some surprising places to hide I have never seen a deer in. I have seen them bed 40 yds off a busy gravel road among some thick bushes and not bust out until your right on top of them. Talk about scaring the sh@@! out of you.
