Normally our deer don't move worth a crap when it's really cold so I got up cooked breakfast and decided to go to billingsley about 8 to swap out my battery pack in my camera. I always carry a weapon in the woods during hunting season because you just never know. I definitely wasn't dressed to be out there awhile. I threw on some light thermals under my Carhartt pants, aftco hoodie and uninsulated ll bean boots. I took my time in getting there and talked to a buddy on the phone for about 20 minutes while I was sitting at the gate and one of the last things I told him was I had a decent 8 point on camera the last few years that should be 5 by now but I figured I'd never kill him because I don't go down there enough. Well I slip in there and swap out the battery pack and decided I'll walk to be back of the property (only a couple hundred yards)to scout a little. Haven't walked back there in years and the area was tore up with rubs. I picked out a sweet gum that I'd probably climb and while I was leaned up against the tree looking around I hear a deer running my way. I take a half step back and get behind the tree a few seconds later a doe damn near runs me over. She was close enough I could have touched her with the gun barrel. I thought surely a bucks gotta be behind her and it wasn't maybe 10 seconds later I see his rack coming thru the thick pines and he sees me puts on the brakes on and slides to a stop no more than 15 feet from me but I had my pawpaws old 742 ready I found the crease of neck and just blowed him down. I gotta think the old man sent them my way I don't think you just luck out on a buck of that quality like I did. They don't get big by making mistakes especially in that part of the world. I can't think of a better way to end the season

Congrats on getting a good buck with that rifle.

The part of your story where you were describing your wardrobe reminds me of the Jeff Foxworthy bit where he was imitating the NASCAR driver’s post race interview. 😁

Go back into your original post and edit it.

At the end of the link take avif out and put in jpeg and you should be good.

It's the file type your PIC saved as.

I'll show you as an example below, your pics will now show.
