Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson, in conjunction with Covington County and Covington County EMA, has ordered roads in the city closed at noon today, Tuesday, Jan. 21, for 24 hours.

And, earlier:

Effective January 21st, 2025 at 9:30am, all roads and bridges in Covington County are considered IMPASSABLE until further notice. Hazardous conditions, including ice accumulation and the potential for fallen debris, have made travel extremely dangerous.
For your safety:
❄️ Avoid all travel unless it is absolutely necessary.
❄️ Ice-covered roads and bridges pose a serious risk of accidents and stranded vehicles.
❄️ Only emergency vehicles should be on county roads and bridges at this time.
We urge everyone to stay home, stay safe, and avoid unnecessary risks. Updates will be provided as conditions improve. Thank you for your cooperation.
