Early on I would have said yes just because I got to see more deer. Now I would say no. Hardly would call what most do including myself hunting anymore. Its just sitting at a corn pile and waiting. Especially when u can pretty much pattern them with cell cams. Honestly thinking about going back to old school hunting. I feel i had a lot more fun back then.

I agree with the patterning them on cell cams, BUT i remember my Buddies that used (some still do) to go out of state always had someone (landowner or guide) do that very thing for them! But yeah now they just usually pattern them themselves now with a Cam šŸ˜

I donā€™t mind it. It ainā€™t that big of a deal. I hunted in MS and TX for years with corn. I always thought it was silly that it was illegal in Alabama. One place I hunted it was legal on 900 acres and not legal on 400 acres. Guess which side of the line most of the big bucks were killed.

When i was a kid, there was a guy had 300+ acres leases to hunt at the top of the mountain. They would bring 1 ton dumptruck loads of corn and dump them in the middle of a field and hunt over it at night. They killed some sure enough big deer up there. People around here aint real fond of that guy any more.

I turkey hunted a place in Texas that sold deer hunts. They brought in this by product of mars candy bars by the semi load. One of those big dump beds. It was cheap and was like 22% protein and the deer loved it. They would look like mountain goats all over those piles. The outfitter used a front end loader to move it to the feed sites.

Bingo!! Unless you like seeing yearling and little spikes this time of year, get away from the fields and get in the woods. I know some will say ā€œwe kill mature bucks on fields all the timeā€. Good for you!! We have killed a couple here also but not like getting in the woods or clear cuts with them. I havenā€™t sat a field or corn since I got here on the 12th.

And I'll toss another! Biggest Landowner (that i know of) in the Alberta & the Gee's Bend Area didn't give two chits ifn all the deer died off yesterday or today! Now Turkeys on the other hand woooo Man thats whole nother sturrry šŸ˜² šŸ˜†šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Thatā€™s where I was a few years ago. Not the land owner thing but the couldnā€™t care less about deer thing. I quit coaching football and now I got time to hunt. Traded one addiction for another.

Problem is if you donā€™t feed the deer will go where they are. I know of a 700 acre property in Fitzpatrick loaded with deer normally quantity and quality. They decided not to feed this year and arenā€™t seeing a 1/4 of the deer this year.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Not a good thing for some and awesome for others. Selling corn has helped a lot of seed stores. Folks are supporting the stores. Farmers are selling by the drum or buckets and doing just fine cash only. Feeding has made it a deer shoot more than a hunt. Cameras another helper. Corn and cameras together is what getting folks off the couch. Iā€™m not sure a few sits Iā€™ve made I would not of but the corn and camera said he has been close by. I still enjoy going.

Making people money is not the way to manage wildlife.

Land owner next to me a ex preacher, use to feed them before it was legal here and bragged on killing 5 bucks every year when the limit was 3 bucks, now that everyone can feed he quit hunting and his wife will not let him see his kids, you might can figure why he is ex preacher!

If bait and cell cams were not a thing I think a good majority of folks would quit, because they arenā€™t good enough hunters to be successful without the help.
