Ive always heard that but is it actually true???? Any documentation to prove it???

Bottom line would be impacted at most during a single policy cycle before actuaries re-determine rates at annual review. I still work in the industry.

And BULLCHIT Alabama farmers association has had plenty to do with deer hunting in Alabama in the past. And Y'all keep saying beetlejuice and the resident ALFA agent will show up to tell ya they don't (but done proved him wrong by his own post lmao) 🤣 Heck are you an ALFA Agent Sir?

I’m not an agent. I’m an actuary who develops product rates and used to perform insurance department rate audits

Alfa has one of if not the largest voice in Alabama politics. If you’re endorsed by Alfa you will more than likely get elected. This flows into most every state policy. I’ve been around many many high ranking Alfa leaders and know what they support. They will not say it publicly but they lobby for liberal deer hunting policies. Most farmers I know hate the deer too because they have lost or think they are losing crops to deer. I farm too and see firsthand damage but it’s not my first line of income or I would probably what them all killed too.

How much revenue does Alfa Insurance generate? As of October 2024, Alfa Insurance's annual revenue reached $5B.

That's off Google. I'd say that they probably have a input on things.

NAIC consumer search will give you publicly reported gross premium written and net income realized.

And to clarify, WK2hnt is surely right about the farmer interest in regulation, I’m just saying the pure insurance side of carrier operations is agnostic about deer numbers and seasons.

So right now we kill over 100K does per season…….You’re telling me that if we hypothetically just stopped shooting does tomorrow and in a few years populations grow and those 100K does started getting killed in the highway instead……You’re telling me that this doesn’t matter to the insurance company???.....How much is the average insurance claim on an auto-deer collision……$10,000 ????......That would equate to a billion dollars……I just have a hard time wrapping my head around that being a non-issue for them to concern themselves with

No. They simply raise your rates to maintain margin. And on and on. Your example isn’t wrong, it just assumes they are working with a finite purse.

For example, medical inflation (the cost of medical services) is at an all time high. The cost of drugs is at an all time high. People in general are more unhealthy than ever. But United Healthcare and Blue don’t care because their gross revenue is also at all time highs and their net margins are just as good as they ever were.

Insurance companies don’t care about the factors that create risk. They care that they have put the right price on it.

I’m not completely buying it……I mean I hear what you’re saying but let that scenario actually play out and SOMEONE is going to start hollering foul at a certain point……If premiums start sky rocketing to pay for a billion dollars of deer damage then that’s going to cause an issue of some kind……Maybe it jacks rates up to a point that a bunch folks start dropping full coverage or something......or dropping coverage all together and risking not having any....The company has to have some kind of incentive to keep prices to an affordable rate

Already is. People are like the proverbial frog in hot water. Have you calculated how much of your budget goes to pay for all your insurance, including your payroll deductions at work?

Exactly

How many people on here wanted baiting to be legalized

A damn big bunch did!!!!!!

I argued against it along with others.

Now it’s others fault and not the hunters jumping up and down wanting it!!!!!!!!
