illegal and asking on a public forum stupid. Do a little research, I believe you will find that its not illegal if they are harassing wildlife (i.e. chasing deer) or livestock, etc.

Do a little research youself; I have. Deer are not livestock. I researched it. Killing a dog is NOT a felony in Alabama. Animal cruelty is a class c felony. The definition of animal cruelty uses the word TORTURE. A bullet to the head is not torture. I would sss anyway though. hawngdog- go back and hang out on your peta board. youll get a much better reception there...

killing a dog is a felony. A felon cannot own a gun. No more hunting for you. You could still bowhunt though....

IF you kill some ones pet and get caught you will pay, big time, as you should. If they are wild dogs, no collars, you have a right to get rid of them anyway that you can. But, in reality, what harm do they do? Dogs running deer only bothers you, not the deer.

DON'T use Timic. It's bad stuff.
Anyone know where I can get any Timic?
The sound of a gun shot won't bother one thing in your hunting area. It may booger it up for that afternoon, or a 20 point buck might walk out in a shooting lane 5 seconds after the shot. Timic? I have seen some around.

For the people that believe dogs that run deer doesn't bother the deer, I have a simple question. Do you prefer to still hunt on property that has dogs running deer randomly through and on your property and take up living on your hunting property? Or, do you prefer to still hunt on property that is not continually disturbed by pressure from dogs?
I have lived through both on the same property and will say without reservation that hunting property without dogs running on the property is vastly better!!

Ok, so I misread the law a little, but not by much. I hate it when people cut and paste on these boards, but I am doing it anyway. It would depend on the judge. Either way, dont sound like fun to me.
These Alabama provisions contain the state's anti-cruelty laws. The first section (under Article 1 of Chapter 11) provides that a person commits a Class B misdemeanor if he or she subjects any animal to cruel mistreatment, neglect (as long as he or she has custody of the animal), or kills or injures without good cause any animal belonging to another. The next section (Article 11 of Chapter 11 entitled, "Cruelty to Cats and Dogs"), provides that a person commits the crime of cruelty to a dog or cat in the first degree if he or she intentionally tortures any dog or cat or skins a domestic dog or cat or offers for sale or exchange or offers to buy or exchange the fur, hide, or pelt of a domestic dog or cat. Cruelty to a dog or cat in the first degree is a Class C felony.
§ 13A-11-14. Cruelty to Animals. (a) A person commits the crime of cruelty to animals if, except as otherwise authorized by law, he or she intentionally or recklessly:
(1) Subjects any animal to cruel mistreatment; or
(2) Subjects any animal in his or her custody to cruel neglect; or
(3) Kills or injures without good cause any animal belonging to another.
(b) Cruelty to animals is a Class B misdemeanor and on the first conviction of a violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than three thousand dollars ($3,000) or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than six months, or both fine and imprisonment; on a second conviction of a violation of this section, shall be punished by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars ($500) nor more than three thousand dollars ($3,000) or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than six months, or both fine and imprisonment; and on a third or subsequent conviction of a violation of this section, shall be punished by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000) nor more than three thousand dollars ($3,000) or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than six months, or both fine and imprisonment.

It's amazing the charges that can be brought against a person for killing an animal. A couple years ago a pit bull runs out of owners yard grabs a 8 yr old girl arm and makes a mess of her. The same dog still alive loose right in the middle of town.People talk about killing other people over a stray dog.yet think nothing about killing an unborn child.Amazing

The complexity of this is amazing in reality.
The irresponsible 'pet' owners that allow their dogs to roam all over and disturb people on their property are a Dog Hunter's worst nightmare!!! This act creates an illusion that 'dogs' on the property ruin the property and then cause people to restrict, or deny, access to legal and ethical Dog Hunters.
I would never shoot anyone's pet or hunting dog. But, strays and free-ranging mutts are not welcome on my property!
x2 Well said hogwild
