Tan crickhopper and 4” watermelon lizards. You can clean out a creek or small river with the two of them.

Great suggestion. If some of these kids also have access to a farm pond or two though, I'd include a small Jitterbug. It's easy to fish, and without hanging up in most ponds. As a kid I caught a blue million bass on them. I have caught a few nice crappie and bream on them too. In mid to late spring there's nothing more exciting to a kid fishing, than to have a bass, even a small one, blow up on a topwater lure.

I know a bunch of hard baits can get spensive, so to the OP, if you'd like I can pick up a dozen or so, and send them to you to include in your tackle boxes. I'm sure that you're spending enough already. Just let me know and send me an address to send them. You can PM or email me.

One of life’s great lessons is learning to dodge baits previously lodged in trees, now headed towards you at Mach 2

Awesome move metalmuncher. I’ve got about 2 years worth of mystery tackle boxes in a closet I need to go through. I am sure I’ll find some good stuff I can send as well. Goatkiller, send me a PM with the address and I’ll now have a reason to finally clean out my fishing closet.
