Want to….need to….have to. Hunt to enjoy the outdoors. Me - Want to have one mounted not gona kill anything I’m not mounting. I’ve got a 8 and 10 mounted. Want another not a 8or10 Me - No need to have to kill one. Will eat the meat but don’t need it. Can afford beef. Deer meat is expensive Me- Have never had to kill on. Some have to justify the money and time spent away from family. Social media air time. I’ll post a pic when I get the one I’m chasing he’s tall not much wider than his ears. What cha got?

Well hunting and killing are very different. These days I don't pull the trigger very often. Usually, if I'm thinking about pulling the trigger, I'll be reminded of the walking, dragging, lifting and other associated laborious tasks that comes after pulling the trigger. It's pretty easy to talk myself out of it. But hunting is just one of the things I do because it's a vital sign. I have a pulse, I have blood pressure, respiratory function and I go hunting.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Just has to be something that gets my blood pumping. One of those no question about it types.
Almost ended a four year drought with my rifle this last week…decided to sit back and enjoy the show instead. One of the best Alabama bucks I’ve seen while hunting in quite some time.

I hunt to enjoy the outdoors. Have some quiet time, with no interruptions. I don’t care about mounting another buck unless it’s bigger than any of the other ones I have mounted. Other than that, I don’t care to pull the trigger. I haven’t killed a deer in about 8-9 years, and that’s fine with me. I like for my kids to shoot one when they want to. I’ve been five times this season and seen a total of 10 deer. I’ve enjoyed just watching them.

I have loved it ever since my dad drug me around when I was 4-5 years old I enjoy the eating, planting, hunting em and definitely killing em. I have been blessed to kill some really good ones for the places I hunt, nothing is really managed for “trophy deer” because we don’t have the acreage or neighbors to worry about it. I let a lot walk that I used to always shoot and I’m not against killing a younger one if I get excited! I hope my kids enjoy it as much as I have over the years.

I hunt as a secondary function of land management because I enjoy seeing all the things there are to see. My killing is mostly centered around the management support… does if I need to reduce mouths, seriously injured bucks that need taking, coyotes, bobcats, nest predators, etc. I’ll take one gobbler a year off the farm if the chase was meaningful and memorable. I’ll take a buck if I feel he has expressed all the potential he has for my area (haven’t made this type of kill in 3 seasons). This. Killing is just a result of what really keeps me going. I love the management side of it now more than the killing, regardless of how big. I have no desire to kill anything that’s not expressing at least most of its potential. I kill does as a management practice to meet my objectives. It’s no longer fun. It’s just part of the process.

The challenge of killing a mature buck and I like the horns. Yes we eat the meat but I’m out there for the horns.

I enjoy being outdoors. My kids and grandkids love my deer jerky and deer sausage. I don't need horn (antlers) to have fun, but it's a bonus.

I use to eat breathe and sleep hunting. As my son got older I preferred to put him in positions to kill and I just was kind of there. We eat mainly deer so we have to kill enough to make it through the year but I’ve had more hey you want it then kills lately. I like watching them now, feeding, doing the work to make things better then killing now. I prefer to set my sights on certain deer and try to kill them and if I do I’m happy or if the kids do better.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Outdoors>Meat>Antlers ain't always been that way though.

Something in me makes me have to hunt. I think I've hunted everyday I possibly could this season. I missed one day for a fishing tournament and I was late getting there because I had to drop a buck off at the processor on the way to the ramp
We will burn that bridge when we get there

Means to an end for me. A friend said that and it makes perfect sense. I'm filling every freezer at my house, my mother's house, and at the shop. This time of year I'm mainly hunting horns. We need 2 more deer though so the last week of the season I may shoot whatever.
