Only 800 yards away. One picture at a feeder and the deer looked like he was scared to death. I think he accidentally got too close that one time. Only way to get all the buck pics on a property is over a scrape imo. Some just don’t like feeders seems like. Few

Same here. My neighbor even closer gets pics of bucks I never do and vice versa. He gets pics of more and older because he actually has a decent spot for deer to travel through whereas the only reason I see them is corn.

I've got about a mile long greenfield on the other side of my property line lol

I’m with the OP, shoot what you want on your land or lease but don’t complain about no older class bucks if you do shoot smaller ones.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

So... A lot of people can't stand it and feel like they have to shoot some small racked buck because otherwise their neighbors will kill it?

And they may be right. Here's how it works for me.

2 of the seemingly many who hunt next to me... we're friendly don't get me wrong. Sounds like the siege of Khe Sahn back there most Saturdays. Stopped by there last Saturday on my way to town. How many've ya killed y'all having a good season?

one guy... I got 14 so far. Other dude with him pipes up I got about 18.

WTF are these morons doing? What do you even do with 32 deer? THIRTY TWO.

That's real. They lease. I've decided I'm calling the landowner and I'm either leasing it out from under them or I'm buying it. I just can't take it any more. ALL the work I put in... gone because a pack of idiots in a contest over a body count.

I bet they use Game Check.

They shoot it then get over there and check to see if it's got any horns. Never seen a Game Warden around there and quite frankly have no reason to believe they are breaking the law. What they are doing is Legal and encouraged by the equally dumbass individuals at the DCNR.

I guess I'm supposed to sell my land I've owned 30 years and move because the Deer regulations changed? And I shouldn't worry about what my neighbors are doing and shooting when it directly impacts me. Appears that everyone who doesn't seem bothered buy such a scenario is either partaking in the same practice or just doesn't care about everyone else because it isn't their problem. SO far that's the takeaway from this Thread.

A lot of people who think this is OK in reality suck at hunting and they don't want anyone to tell them anything because once they finally get a basket racked 2yo in front of them they are going to kill it. That's also part of the equation.

Same bunch of people gonna whine about "regulations" and limits claiming it will discourage hunters and "kids", etc.

What a dam joke.

What's discouraging is some pack of assholes shooting everything they see and you never having anything decent to shoot. How many are discouraged by that?

The good news for me is I can afford enough corn to keep most of the deer on the opposite side of the property alive.

I've hunted this place 30 years. I know exactly what it was like before we went to the brown is down deer management model. EXACTLY. Several 140 inch deer on the wall at the camp house to look at and talk about the "good-ole-days". Use to have 3-4 per season. Now 1. Maybe. And I've killed it several years but it's tough and you no longer shoot anything. We had to stop shooting any deer on this place to keep what we've got and has cut at least my hunting down to 1/2 or 1/3 of the property.

We're still getting it done but that's only because I'm better than average and figure out long ago the places the deer will travel every year in and year out. I'm hunting those sort of places you can leave and come back 30 years from now and the deer will still be going the same place.

That scenario is exactly why I came here and promoted buck limits
It’s seeing that 20 years ago and to the point hunters hunted around or slipped in cause they were gonna show us. We had almost 5000 acres and it wasn’t enough. We had 25 members give or take a few and it was still crowded. 😂

I don’t what the answer is and how to handle it past limits.

More game wardens that’s the answer. As bad as I hate to say it that’s the answer.

There's a third option you aren't thinking of. The people who realize it not gonna change. See what you have on these threads is the same thing you have in pretty much everything in our society. You have two side to this. The idiots, who think they're way better hunters than everyone else.( how you tell they're full of chit, is they say stuff like, I'm better than average) they want everyone to think they can kill a deer with a rock and a slingshot. Therefore they want the laws to be so strict that no one is capable of killing a deer but them. They know it won't happen so they think spewing that nonsense makes them look like good hunters. The other side is the imbeciles that want to shoot everything they can. They're not really afraid the neighbors are going to kill one, they're afraid they are not going to get to shoot all of them. You can easily spot these retards because they say stuff like I have to feed my family, or I have the right too.... the truth of the matter is most people fall in the middle. They just want a decent place to hunt, with a decent chance to see and kill a deer.
