Wife's uncle 59 just died yesterday from stage 4 lung cancer that moved to his liver. He was a smoker and started spitting up blood about 6 months ago, so he quit smoking, too late to help him. If you use any tobacco products you need to quit for yourself and your family. Last memories of him for his family was looking at him in a hospital bed unresponsive dopped up on drugs to keep him comfortable just waiting to die. Not a pretty sight.

When I got old-enough about 14-15 to even consider having a choice about it...well. Did I have a choice? I did, but the decision tree grows with the wind.

Jwalker can climb those decision tree's in his mind for work and for his own personal life the same way. None of us can climb those tree's like him. Some folks need a crew with trucks and buckets and chains and saws.

We're middle class. I was born dirt poor white trash. I've literally never been able to afford a tobacco habit. I've always been able to buy it, but any time I did I removed my ability to buy something else.

What nicotine and alcohol do for most people can be done with a pair of running shoes.

Another reason is you might like to keep your teeth in old age.

Im hooked on nicotine. Dipped for years and smoked cigars some. Stopped the cigars a long time ago. Switched from smokeless tobacco to straight nicotine pouches about 2 years ago. Nicotine in and of itself does not cause cancer. I like to think im choosing the least risky way to be hooked. I was completely nicotine free for numerous years and picked it back up when I moved back to Alabama in a crazy stressful time. Wish I hadnt.

I quit smoking July 4 2001 after about 35 years. I had an unopened pack in my truck seat because I knew if I went to the store to buy some I would start again. CAN NOT STAND THE SMELL OF CIGS NOW. Thankfully my doc said that if I don't have cancer know I probably would never have

I dipped sporadically throughout the years but was never really addicted. Picked up Zyn about two years ago due to working in the office and got hooked. Gave it up cold turkey this past week and I feel like a crack head tweaking. LoL. Gets better every day, so just gotta stay strong and resist the cravings. I keep telling myself I can put all the money I was pissing away in Zyn towards hunting stuff.

Quit 1.5 cans a day of Copenhagen Feb 7 2014 using Nicorette gum and it was easy. You have to want to do it and stick to it. And most of all read the directions and use it just like it says

It took a heart attack over 9 years ago to cause me to quit smoking.... part of my heart failure was contributed to smoking tobacco. if that doesn't cause a person to quit smoking nothing short of death will. I tried the vaping I coughed more than when I was a menthol cig nut.... I'll say this I'd probably still be smoking if I didn't have the heart attack...Don't wait to have anything abnormal checked on.... one day could make the difference in treatment and recovery on to remission versus a trip to the Funeral parlor.

when I was quitting I would come home and read the storys from why quit .com it helps to read about 40 year olds who give their story on their deathbed.

I have a $50 a week nicotine gum habit. Walmart brand, 2mg, fruit flavored. More hooked on that than any dip or cigarette.

I quit today, 26 years ago. Smoked a pack and a half a day for 9 years and loved it . Just loved Jesus more and didn’t want any part of my life to not reflect His glory.

First 3 days are the worst. Gets a little easier everyday. After two weeks it really is a lot better but you have to be resolute. It takes a while for some the habits to go away. If I was working on something and had to stop and study on it for a minute, I’d find myself digging through my shirt pocket looking for a pack without realizing it. That would happen for a couple of years.

I quit dipping a year ago after dipping for 22 years. Wish I had quit before I fucked up my teeth. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about wanting a dip but the shit smells awful to me now

Read the directions on it man, it says to mix real gum in and wean yourself off. I did it but I did exactly like the directions says

The radiation cooked his vocal cords and when he finally could talk he sounded like Mickey Mouse. That lasted for months. He finally got over it all but it definitely was difficult for him and his family. Ref the cigarettes. JWalker is right. You just have to be more stubborn. I have mine down to one a day usually, sometimes I'll skip a few days, sometimes when I'm camping or in the woods all day might have two. Its still smoking, I know, but at my age its not like its going to cut short my long and promising life anyway.

All of this correct and actually describes it mildly. You need 6 to 8 containers of formula into your feeding tube daily which is a task not counting the medication that goes into it. You get it all accomplished and get up to walk to the bathroom and try to clear your throat from the flem built up in it and puke everything back up and it’s time to start again. That will give you an incentive to give snuff up or the fact your saliva glands no longer work because of damage from radiation. Not mention the chemo side effects
