I don't understand all of it myself (or even most of it), but I do think part of it is that I have a hard time thinking outside the box as to a whole lot of you guys.
I tend to be a little bit traditionalist and the George Jetson life is something I am not real ready for and why I prefer my fossil fueled vehicle over electric. I am not big on a bunch of change! I like things that I am comfortable with and used to...
I think a lot of us are like that with our brains as well...we have a hard time seeing things differently. Old dogs and new tricks, etc.
I have also considered if we are part of an unexplained anthropology experiment and the experiment goes awry if he were to explain all of it in the traditional terms that most of us would understand better.
