If $20 a year prevents me from getting pulled over on the way to the hunting camp at the most inopportune time, that’s money well spent.
Yup. Don't remember how long ago it was, probably 15 years or so, but State Troopers were hammering folks coming through Clarke County on 43 for no tags, and lights, and i was one of the unfortunate one's.
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

I thought farm use did not require one

Not required in Alabama. All the company trailers have tags but not personal. Got a ticket a few years ago on a personal trailer. What are you basing your information on that a trailer tag is not required in Alabama? If not required then why did you get a ticket?

Wouldn't be much use for a trailer that never left the farm property. They got wheels for a reason.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Exemptions for the Title and Tag Requirements
Boat Trailers Farm Trailers: Trailers are used exclusively for transporting farm products to and from the market or for transporting the personal property of the farmer for his own use on the farm. Equipment Trailers: Trailers with permanently mounted equipment, such as a crane or well-drilling equipment. The trailer is not equipped for hauling supplies. Beginning July 1, 2009, utility trailers designed for pulling behind an automobile or pickup truck are exempt from title law. Such trailers remain subject to registration fees and taxes. Beginning January 1, 2012, semi-trailers, gooseneck trailers, recreational trailers, and manufactured homes over 20 model years old are exempt from the title law. Currently, all 1999 and prior year model trailers are exempt. Such trailers remain subject to registration fees and taxes.
Utility trailers required for registration include, but are not limited to, open trailers for commercial equipment, personal mowers, golf carts, horse trailers, enclosed auto transporters, and tow dollies.

I think around $20 a year for small utility trailer I have. The State was cracking down on trailers with no tags and writing tickets so I figured it was cheaper and less hassle to pay $20 a year rather than a few hundred dollars ticket and deal with the hassle of it.
