I went to one and really didnt see the point of all of it......Just a bunch of procedural stuff with nothing of real substance occurring......Dog hunters griping was about the highlight of it

I've already got a message back about us not seeing a lot of does, much less mature bucks. Was told he was hearing the exact opposite, too many does! So I already feel I wasted my time. Oh well.

I think they just find someone saying whatever narrative they want to support and go with that……reality doesn’t matter….only perception……A bunch of the big “plantations” shut down their doe harvesting this year….They didn’t do that because there’s “too many does!!!”……It makes you wonder who these folks are that they’re getting their info from with what they’re “hearing”……..I cant speak to having my feet on the ground all the way south to the Florida line but I just cant imagine that all those other southeastern counties are seeing something way different than the counties I frequent……

Maybe someone can tell them you can’t manage the whole state as one and will cut off the northern part in mid January. Oh wait, it only matters what the lobbyists say anyway. Let private owners get doe tags and management help as needed and let the state biologist do their job and earn their pay without someone above them telling them what to do and say. If the state were to manage our deer correctly, they would need at least 10 deer management zones with different limits and seasons for each zone.

... let the state biologist do their job and earn their pay without someone above them telling them what to do and say. Are you sure you want to give individuals unfettered power to control your right to hunt as they see fit? If you were paying attention when the dcnr first took it upon themselves to attempt to manage deer statewide, the study group spokesperson (a biologist) admitted that it was an impossible task.

If you were paying attention when the dcnr first took it upon themselves to attempt to manage deer statewide, the study group spokesperson (a biologist) admitted that it was an impossible task. Most of the biologists have jumped ship, transferred to other state agencies or retired. You’d rather have politicians make decisions on game management than biologists? Where does the unfettered power come from? Biologists simply make recommendations based off hunter input in their respective regions and the data they collect. It’s not driven by money, political pressure or personal gain.

Yall need to bring up using steel T shot as buckshot Don't call it steel, call it tungsten or TSS. They will get really confused if you call it steel. ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) If you wait until the meeting to bring it up, there's little chance of them dealing with it this year. You need to contact them in advance and make sure they know about the issue before the meeting. You only get 3 minutes to speak in person, and they allow that only because the law requires it. Gotta contact them in advance with facts if you want it changed. The dog hunters association oughta be an ally on this. I would contact them and ask them to help. Good luck getting it changed. All it really takes is someone willing to push it.

You’d rather have politicians make decisions on game management than biologists? . Neither one. The compelling public interest to restrict our right to hunt is conservation of the different species, not micro management of a couple of the species. Where does the unfettered power come from? Seasons and bag limits being completely excluded from any lawful requirement to include public input or review by our legislature during the process.
