In response to Pwyses comment about the coaches choosing him. A lot more goes into that decision than just who is the best QB. Deboer watched that exact same team completely lay down in protest, the previous season when Saban tried to bench him. Every time something came out about Milroe not getting the job done this year, and Deboer possibly moving in another direction at QB, all his LANK brothers ran out and did interviews telling the press that they had Milroe’s back and he was the starter and their guy. That sent a not so subtle message to newbie Deboer. Deboer knew exactly what would happen, chemistry wise, if he tried to replace Milroe with Mack or Simpson and he wasn’t willing to pay that price. Not only that but the NIL money going to Milroe had to be considered, as well as all the press idiotically saying that Milroe had the heisman locked up and pushing him as a great QB. Deboer benches Milroe and half the fans go crazy calling for his head because they, like a lot of people on here, we’re fooled by all the hype and an occasional spectacular play, once every couple games. Deboer is smart enough to see and know all this and no new coach, that wants to keep his job, is willing to rock the boat that hard in his first season. No, it’s spot on. He was in a no win situation. If I was Deboer, when spring training rolls around this year, I’d throw every MF’er that showed up with anything with the words “LANK” on it off the team. Not only happened to Saban in his last year, it happened to Saban in his first year. This is why he left. The test of DeBoer will be if he owns the team this year as Saban did in year two.
O God, you are my God; early will I seek you. Psalm 63:1
