I know there been alot of chatter about illegal Mexicans and so forth. But have yall ever helped one become legal? Like jumped through all the hoops and red tape? I know a hand full of em, and some have been trying to get legal for like 10 years now. And had spent thousands of dollars to do it. But yet they still aren’t legal. Do yall think they’ll make new laws to make it easier for them to become legal? Or just keep the same process that’s always been around.

Getting legal once here is a hard task, as it should be. Following the process beginning on the other side of the river isn't too hard.

I worked with a guy who came here illegally in the 90's, and our boss started the process to get him legal pretty quickly after that. He finally got the chance to take the citizenship test and passed to become a 100% citizen like 3 years ago. I wanna say he couldn't go back to Mexico for like 10 years during the process too.

yes, the new laws make it extremely easy to become legal. doesn't cost them a thing. But we have to pay for the plane ticket back home to their legal country.

It's taking them so long because of the hundreds of thousands or millions of illegals that jumped in front of them in the line during the previous administration.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I have friends from Honduras that have gone through the process. It’s not easy. Usually requires an education in civics and English. Also about 5 years of permanent legal residency in the US. The only way to get that is through a visa.

Also getting a work visa or a visa to go to school isn’t easy. But it depends on your education level and the job or college offer you have.

A country like Honduras does not like to lose their well educated, hard workers to another economy. So that makes it hard. Our church has a campus there. Getting prospects who want to attend Bible college here legally is almost impossible.

We have a guy that has been with us for 20 years and has tried many times to get legal, finally last year he was able to become legal. He was able to go,visit family at Christmas he hadn’t seen in 20 years, I was concerned and hoped he had all paper work done correctly, but apparently he did, he flew both ways. I asked him the other day and he spent over 50k getting he and his wife legal after 4 attempts. Great guy, and was glad he could finally make it happen, definitely an asset to our country.

The thing is that if they are here on student or work visas legally, they should have all the proof they need to not be rounded up and deported. But, like a great many of us, if they let the paperwork lapse, it causes problems. Visas have to be renewed.

Friend spoke to an attorney this week and was told $17k and 7-8 years. No wonder they just fly under radar.

This .

I used to work with a feller who's wife was from the Philippines . Took several years and several $1,000s . And they aren't fans of giving the border jumpers a free and expedited pass.

I worked with a gal at a friends sports photog business that became an American citizen while I was there. Took her several years and seems like $3000 and several years of schooling. She went to Birmingham for classes and the citizenship test. She wasn’t Mexican if that matters. She now lives in Canada.

I have a great friend that is German. It took her 3 years and I’m not sure of the cost. She did it all the right way.

Guy named Felipe that used to work for my dad told me it took him 8 years. He’d work for dad during the day, and take side jobs in the evenings and on the weekends. He’s the hardest worker I’ve ever seen. Years later, he still hand delivers dad a Christmas card every year and thanks him for the opportunity to work. He’s married now, has 2 or 3 kids, and truly appreciates what America has given him. I know it was worth it for him, even though it took a long time and lots of money. It’s a shame that more of them aren’t like him.

He told me a funny story one time…..I had a deer hanging in the barn and he wanted to look at it. He said his dad and grandfather hunted in Mexico, but for some reason, they always went at night. lol.

If you’re here illegally, there is virtually no path to legal residency without going home unless you marry someone here, or you’re in a specified field that congress has softened the rules. It is not easy by any stretch.

Coming here Illegal sets the precedent of always being Illegal. A person that enters across the United States border has instantly shown they are a law breaker and IMO should never be allowed to become a Legal Citizen here.

Here's an idea! Throw their asses on a military transport plane, like our soldiers have to ride in. Drop their asses off in Mexico. No ticket needed. Heck, I don't care if they drop them from 800 feet altitude, into the Gulf of America...as long as it is at least 100 miles out. grin
