I use live bream for the big fish. Little smokies for the 2 to 5 pounders.

I am going to get back to catfishing this year. Don’t flatheads prefer live bait? I never was into the “science”of catfishing, just using liver, cut bait, etc. Trying to learn more about the techniques via YouTube.

If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

Do you use them live that big or cut them up?

That big one made three good baits. In my experience, cut bait out fish's live bait by a big margin. I've caught plenty of flatheads on cut bait. It's all about where you fish, not what you fish. If I want to catch gar, I'll use a live small bluegill. My boat partners 6yo granddaughter loves to catch gar more than anything else.

My dealer says he will have the new Xplore 12 and Mega Live 2 around March 1st. I can't wait to see how it works for locating big catfish.

Yes, flatheads prefer live bait.

I could tell by the bright green shoe laces something wasn’t right. Then using that fish as bait for a catfish just confirmed it lol!
