That’s true. And a Belgian or Japanese A5 20 gauge in very good condition will too.

I have a near perfect Jap light 20 but am still looking for a sweet sixteen in excellent shape.

Exact year, choke, rib, wood, buttplate, finish, grade…..all are factors for a finished value. While some may bring over $2k these days, the vast majority will more likely fall in the $900-1400 range.

If I paid $2,000 for a sweet 16 , it better look like it just came out of the box and had never been fired.

One like that LNIB would be closer to $4k. That's why I'm still looking for one. Lol

I picked up a beautiful 1969 Belgium Sweet 16 a few years ago. Looked almost flawless and is the best shooting gun I’ve ever fired. I swallowed hard and ponied up $1700 and don’t regret it one bit.

If deal is finalized it might be for sale. Guy is out of state so I would have to get it here….. I haven’t personally seen it but looks to be 9/10 condition

He may have more than it’s worth in it. He supposed to keep me posted.

Good heavens that Auto 5 is a beauty! Just from the 3 pics, it appears to be in excellent condition. Some people don't like fooling with adjusting or setting up the recoil spring and friction rings under the forearm, but once set up correctly, most A5s are really great shooters as I'm sure you know. My 1964 A5 was very easy to set up and get running well. Mine had the friction rings turned backwards about 45 years ago and put in a safe . . . probably with the thought that it won't cycle right.

My dad had an immaculate 20 gauge with blonde stocks and a poly choke barrel when I was a kid. He ended up trading it for a Remington 760 pump .270 with engraved stocks. Looking back, that was a terrible one-sided deal...

I would t pay $2500 for two of them. A nice usable example can be had between $8-1200.

$2500 would buy a new Beretta A400 and a Winchester SX4 for a spare. They’re not a high grade O/U (which are ridiculously overpriced as to what they are as well) and they made literally tens of thousands of them. Keep looking. You’ll find one. I bought a really nice 12 gauge from a guy at a Mobile gun show a year or two ago. 99% bluing and 95% wood for $900. Was too nice to hunt with so I sold it in my buddy’s pawn shop for $1200. They’re out there. Just gotta keep looking
