If they leave and then come back maybe they have valid work visas for that period of time. The workers that are running to evade ICE are probably illegals with some sort of criminal record. No way ICE has time yet to go after the plain old working folks who just crossed illegally, They’ve said repeatedly they are going after the criminals first. And President Trumps press secretary said unlike previous administrations everyone who is the country illegally is a criminal.
